I've reached the point where I want to kill something or someone! This is crazy. I've paid over $250US in tech support and webhosting thus far and I have no site AT ALL! I really, really need to know how to get my site from Frontpage onto the server I pay insane amount to host THIS CRAP (http://www.rotovia.com). Better yet, if I could email someone the html or the FP file and all the servere information and they could do it for me. That would save alot of lives. My emotion in emoticon form:   :( :headbang:

No way. I'm being a cheap scate. I just sent someone another $100 to do apparently do nothing. If you're willing to bring your price down and are serious, I'll consider it though. I am that desperate right now.

You're asking to be pwn3d.

The very idea of agreeing to some contract, especially one involving money, with some random internet poster on a public message board isn't the brightest idea...what if he takes the money and never contacts you again?

You're so cynical. I'll do it for $125.00 and throw in rust-proofing for free.

I'm not agreeing to anything and think myself far from stupid, just desperate. Hence my use of the word "consider". Right now I'd consider help from the homeless guy outside St Stephen's. I'm feeling more and more ripped off and all I want is my god damned site to work. I swear I could literally cry.

I wasn't stupid enough to get rust proofing on my laptop (the guy seriosuly offered it).

I'm thinking about maybe just setting fire to computer and maybe that'll help?

Management of what? I can't see what this has to do with what I posted

To the others on this thread, yes, I am VERY cynical :D

I never said you were stupid. I was just trying to advise you against doing something you wouldn't normally consider if you weren't so desperate.

Good luck, man.

You should have got the rust-proofing. It's probably the reason you're having trouble. HTML is very rust sensitive.

Make a site, upload the HTML file and all associated images, php things, and CSS sheets to your ftp folder, make sure everything works and done.

Also, delete the two mentioned files from your forum path. You're asking for trouble.

I do sites to make money (or as some call it, "to make a living.").

But, I use Dreamweaver to make and upload my sites, not Frontpage, so I'm not personally familiar with Frontpage's particular methods. I can still say, that paying anyone big bucks to upload your stuff is burning money. A program like Frontpage is going to have an e-z interface for that, and once you find it and "get it," you'll see...

I found a site with a tutorial, that seems to know what it's talking about. This should lower your frustration level immensely. It has step-by-step instructions and screenshots.

http://www.hostmysite.com/support/upload/frontpage-publish/ Hopefully that'll de-mystify it for you!

That tutorial's part of some web host's site, so you may have to change a couple of things to fit your own server's setup.

I'll help you for free. What you need seems very simple and I can't stand seeing how you got tricked two times already.
If you wish to thank me with money once the problem is solved, I'll direct you to a friend of mine's amazon.com wishlist and you can buy her a gift certificate, but after we make sure everything works.
I have to go out now, but I'll be back in 4-5 hours.
Add me to Yahoo! Messenger, my id is alex_sisc.

I'd be happy to help you, without charge. Send me a TG and tell me:

* Where you live ( Country and city )

* Who you've contacted thus far to work on your site.

* What program you've used to design your site.

Nevermind. Others with more experience have already volunteered. I've worked almost exclusively with raw HTML code, so I would have to learn about Front Page or whatever other program you're using before I could help.

Sorry. :(

Depends on the server
Index.html or htm are very very common
But also seen main.htm and main.html as well as default.html

Php defaults can be main.php default.php or index.php

True, and it sounds like you know more than me on this particular issue (actually, I'm quite sure you do :D ), but from my experience, it's a 99% probability that index.html will do the trick.

And I am running apache2 on my FreeBSD machine at home (geek.upwardthrust.us … page is just basic I use it more for a fileserver)

Looks like you are set to go with various volunters. Mostly it seems now that your main problem is just uploading the site to the server.
TG me if you are still having issues.

o0O! I like the sexy minimalist stylings of your site. Very retro chic.

You could just use another program. One that doesn't suck dog doodoo.

EDIT: You forgot the most important emoticon of all: :upyours: (I'm sure thats one of the emotions you're feeling)

Thanks for everyone who offered to help. Perticually the one's who didn't send me a TG that read like this "all you need to do is realign the space-time continuum(sp?) with your html".
