Jack Kerouac

Last night I had finished a book I was reading but still wanted to read more (I am a reading addict, I even read labels on cleaning products if they are sitting around). So I picked up my old copy of Jack Kerouac's Desolation Angels and I remembered how great his writing really was.

Any other Kerouac fans out there?

I assume most people have read On the Road, but how many have read more than that?

I used to quite like On The Road, but when I reread it a year or so ago I ofund myself very strongly turning against. I haven't read any of his other prose fiction, but I have some travel writings. At times I like his style, but mostly I find his approach very frustrating. But, I'm not a huge fan of Beat art in general.

Like coffee or beer, I think beat prose (and poetry) is an acquired taste. Now that I'm older than when I first experienced Kerouac, I appreciate it in a different way.

I've read a few. I wasn't crazy about Desolation Angels, to tell the truth (didn't much like The Dharma Bums, either), but I did enjoy Visions of Cody and On The Road.
