Why we should stop ID vs. Evolution arguments.

Here's my reasons on why this debate is pointless...I'm sure it's been said before, and I get dragged into this arguments as much as anybody...but here goes anyway:

1) Arguing validates the IDers into thinking they have a real theory

2) No one is really debating. Debate is enlightening to both parties. This is just ranting.

3) The only way to prove evolution to an IDer/Creationist is to evolve before their eyes while holding a bible up. Even that wouldn't convince them

So let's just move on and talk about something else.

Christian ID has the answer that they want to be right and searches for evidence to support it and discards any that doesn't.

Evolution and it's ideas evolve slowly as more information comes to hand.

But people will still debate it.

you could also add to the fact that either groups sources look biased to the others.
and that both are going to argue that the other one can't really "prove" anything

or that there really isn't a good reason to argue about how we all started out anyway...... ;)

Point number one is why I don't get involved in such discussions...PERIOD.

They are damn funny to lurk through though. :p

So maybe we can get them to stop teaching ID in schools?

As a person who basicaly thought up ID on his own (I didnt MAKE it up, but when I started thinking it sounded good, Id never heard of it before), I think that veiled trolls are rather annoying. As long as you dont start bellydancing though, Im good.
Anyway, 'it validates them into thinking they have a real theory'? If your going to use big words, find a dictionary. A simple 'makes them think' would be more appealing. If you wanted to use 'validate' you should have said "It validates their thinking...'.
Thank you, come again.

Fine by me. :)

Hockey season is starting soon. We could talk about the return of the NHL. I'm excited about that and willing to debate some of the issues:

1) Should Bertuzzi be allowed to play?

2) How will the new rules affect things?

3) Will the Buffalo Sabres win the Stanley Cup?

#3 is obvious...yes, they will.

You won't though. Those schools that have adopted it will stay that way until every person pulls their kid out and sends them to a different school as a form of protest. Until that happens, unfortunately, they will teach that crap.

Perhaps I should have said, makes them feel they have a credible theory?

Either way, it still isn't a valid or credible scientific theory.

Thanks, have a nice day... :)

You can say whatever you like, you are in no way obligated to follow my suggestions.

I would like you to prove to me that my personal theory is incorrect. Which you cant. You cant prove it is incorrect because there is no evidence that God does not exist beyond people saying 'He doesnt exist!' and to date, I have seen many essays that expound upon this, but provide no actual evidence.
Therefore, since it has not been proven that it cannot be true, it is possible.
No, it isnt a theory, but it seems to me (and this is just my opinion) that its better than "This little ball of matter popped into existance and exploded for no real reason".

Now, as I dont want to turn your thread into a religious debate, Ill be leaving. If I spot a topic where this is being discussed, I usually drop in, just so you know.

Proof does not require that we prove that something does not exist.

It requires that you prove that it does exist.

By your logic, I could say that leprechauns and the Easter rabbit and Santa Claus and unicorns and dragons exist. Which they do not, because it cannot be proved that they do exist.

See Sierra BHTP's comments? That pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

You may want to better research the Big Bang as you explaination is completely lacking in understanding of what happened.
