So what do you do when politics bore you?

It doesn't happen often...but I'm in an anti-politic funk. No issue fires me up right now...so what the hell do I do? When I'm not running around trying to smash the state, I just feel lost! What can I talk about? I don't want to devolve into a chatter and just babble on about nothing...what are my options people? What are YOUR options when the funk descends upon you??

Pass the peas! *breaks into dance*

No, but seriously...it's either politics or chat around here...isn't there something between that?

Well, there is always religious banter to fall back upon.....don't know how all-encompassing this funk of yours is, though. Usually when I fall into a similar state (like....actually, the past few days) I keep clicking around trying to find something, and it fails.

Actually, I just wrote my own obituary, it's a fair distraction for a few moments if you want to put some thought into that.

Yeah, I figured religion would probably fall under the same sphere, it always seems to with me.

Go learn something. You know how to knit? I learned how to knit the other day. Oooh, or bake something. That'll help. Or go back to sleep. I'm planning on that.

Try taking an interest in philosophy. Atleast then your interest won't just be topical and your inquisition into certain areas of thought will be dictated by your current train of thought. Not the current chain of events although it's more likely your response to these events will be less reactionary and have a more rational/consistent base (not to suggest that your not rational, I don't know you. I am just speaking from my personal experiences of acquiring an interest in philosophy).

Sex sex sex...is that all you ever think about? :D
Yeah, me too.

Let's see. I think about firearms and shooting. I think about eating. I think about cooking (do quite a bit of it). I think about fine wines. I think about politics occasionally - but a lot of it boils down to arguments that no one will change their minds on, so it gets boring really fast.

A typical Friday evening this summer consisted of an afternoon of good conversation, food broiled on the grill, some wine, and some light music and dancing. Followed by an evening indoors of group sex.

I had a great summer. And it wasn't all sex - but it certainly wasn't boring diatribes on how al-Jazeera is somehow a real news station.

Watch Red Vs Blue (http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/home.php)

Lately I've been in one of my phases of political disinterest. I go through this once every few months, when Politics begin to oversaturate my brain and begin to erode my soul. Fortunately I usually have better things to be doing anyway, and between making art and making music, my time away from the Political Merry-Go-Round of NS is rather easily filled.

I suggest you take up a new hobby, one with nothing to do with politics. I reccomend suicide bomb...er, scratch that, its political. I dunno. Watch TV, Yodel, Masturmbate...whatever it is you normal people do when you have some free time.

Or just focus on the human issues, those threads can be quite rewarding (ie: the Is Addiction A Choice? thread)

Sinuhue, for us (and for some who come to our parties) the first time is nervous.

For a few hours before everyone arrives, there's a lot of nervous and sexual tension.

Part of this stems from not having done this sort of thing before. You can dispel any notions you may have of people being crazy or freaky. In the end, it begins rather like a dinner party for us, and proceeds naturally to a lot of fun.

It's quite a relief to find out that the people who do this are everyday people.

One thing that helped us was laying out some ground rules - what we wanted, who we wanted it from, and how we wanted it. Then we went looking.

I usually try to find an excuse to disparage that poor, French excuse for a system of measurement. Most people refer to it as the metric system, but we all know it as SI.

Or, I go to a chat board that more closely represents my hobbies. www.thehighroad.org will get you to a different audience.

If things are really bad, I go read http://www.democraticunderground.com/ The things there usually get me so irritated that I'm ready to discuss politics with rational people again.

The material: wool, bought locally...or synthetic material produced in sweatshops in the third world?

The reason for knitting: Are you poor, and making handicrafts to suppliment your income? Is knitting your trade, or an art that you wish to keep alive...a way to maintain the tradition of handicrafts versus mass-produced products?

The things that go on in knitting circles: You want to hear about subversion? Join a knitting circle. Those people will shock you!

Who is knitting?: Mostly women. It's considered 'effeminate' for men to knit, so those that do, face ridicule.

Need I go on? It's all political, baby!

I can't smoke weed. I don't have a spleen and it is a little known fact that the spleen processes the THC in pot to get you high. This means that if I smoke pot I just vomit and I don't get high.

Which is fine...I prefer gaming, drinking, and masturbation much more as political aversions.
