Ok, just curious, but which of these consoles is supposed to have the better graphics? And dont say one just because you like it better, i'm just curious about which one is going to be the most capable.

PS3 and Xbox 360 are very close, its really hard to say which is stronger objectively.

Xbox360 looks better tho, to me, and uses an ATI. So I say Xbox360.

Well, you can't say which is better. No one knows what the Graphic's on the Revolution will be.

X-Box'll likely have the better graphics.

But graphics does not a good game make. Myst anyone?

I'll probably get a PS3 when/if I can afford one. If only because it'll run my PS2 games, and that I'm more interested in the games coming out on it.

Myst was a good game if you had the time to play it, and could understand the clues.

I'm not getting an Xbox 360, that's for sure. To me it's just a PC with less functions and somewhat better graphics. If I want that, i'll just remod my pc. And it'll even have more fonctions then playing games and watching dvd's.

As far as I know, the PS3 is supposed to be the most powerful in terms of processors and what not, meaning it should have best graphics... ASSUMING that the developers will figure out how to use this power. Until then, games on the PS3 won't come close to reaching the system's full potential.

Of course, graphics don't make the game good, so it shouldn't matter in the first place.

In either case, I think the PS3 will totally dominate the other two - Sony have always made extremely good consoles with a far greater range of games than Xbox or Nintendo. After all, if you were a games developer - which console would you prefer to make a game for?

The Xbox 360 might have slightly better graphics, but the PS3 will make up for that I am sure.

Unless Microsoft buys out all the game companies there like Namco, Square, Tri-Ace and a few others, don't bet on it.

In either case, I think the PS3 will totally dominate the other two - Sony have always made extremely good consoles with a far greater range of games than Xbox or Nintendo. After all, if you were a games developer - which console would you prefer to make a game for?

you'll want to develop for xbox - use of directx means easy coding and porting for PC developers, numerous hardware graphics modules again mean easier coding... and some other things mean the x360 is going to be far easier to code for (and will have more PC developers interested) than the PS3, with its unusual new and strange architecture. plus its notoriously hard to code for the playstation.

also i dispute the first part. sure sony currently have a massive market lead, but the x360 is getting a lot of publicity, and is out on sale well before the PS3. the original xbox and NGC struggled to compete last time partly because they were simply out far later than the PS2, and it had already tied up the market. if MS get their pricing right then the x360 stands a chance of doing just that to its other competitors this time.

and also, so many console developers have either moved across to xbox, or co-develop for both MS and Sony, i think the majority of the quality games from the 'greater range of games' on the playstation franchise will be appearing on x360 as well. then you have, on top of this, the large number of PC game developers who have signed up with MS, and you start to see the range of games and developers for the x360 is quite a large list...
and also, everyone knows, unlike Nintendo's policy, Sony's games were released as quantity, not quality. there were a large number of quality games out for the PS franchise, granted, but the 'massive range of games' included a very large number of shit ones. xbox has been more discerning, and Nintendo, as ever, even more so.

anyways, all that aside, i'm just more interested in the games coming out for the x360, like the design, and will have friends with it - meaning Live will be good straight-off. plus i'm very happy with my xbox as it is. so i'll be getting MS's offering (when the price drops for the first time)

I'm looking at it merely from a time standpoint. Microsoft is rushing to get it's Xbox360 out before Christmas. The PS2 will come out in mid 2006. During that six-month interval, Sony will be able to upgrade it's own system.

So in the long run, I think PS3 will have "better" graphics, but not by much.

Xbox 360!

PS3's tech demos are all fake, this proves Sony only dreams about making great graphics instead of taking it into action.
The Revolution, we haven't even seen the games. So there's no contest, the 360 is greater in graphics.

Great point but I was just answering the question as it stood, still a great point tho. :)

First of all: the Revolution actually hasn't shown any games. So it's really out of the running as of now.

Even though I'm a follower of Nintendo, I think PS3 is the way to go. The Xbox 360 doesn't look a lot better in graphics or games. All it has is more features, and as that othe guy said, just get a PC. PS3's graphics look way better than PS2's. But the Rev's controller is the only original one, the others are the same as the previous system but sleeker. So I say PS3 AND Revolution.

All this thread -or any like it- is is just opinion. It always is. You just can't tell what will happen. Of course, technicaly, the PS3 has more raw power, but is harder to delvelop for than XBOX360, and no one knows what the Revolution is doing.

Personally I'm getting the Revolution first and then picking the better of PS3 and Xbox360. I predict PS3 to be better, mostly because it has companies like Square, Konami and Capcom very much onside and I like RPG's and MGS better than I like Halo and, umm, yeah, whatever else the Xbox has going for it.

I'm not sold on Blu-ray but those are my feelings as of now.

I'd bet on the Revolution getting a fair few new gamers in which might not boost Nintendo's market share but will increase the size of the pie. And since Nintendo are still the only ones turning a profit as a hardware company I'd see them doing well financially out of the next round.

I've always been a dedicated Sony fan (thanks to Square Enix :D) but I personally got fed up after my playstation 2 broke, again. After a three hour rampage i went out and bought an X-box which to this day I am very happy with and havn't had a single problem. (Although it PMS's every now and then and won't read disks).

When I have the funds I'll buy both, play them for maybe three weeks, and neglect them for a MMORPG.

As for Nintendo I just wish they'd come out with some new titles, or at least characters for god sakes. I'm sick of seeing Link, Mario, Samus, Fox, etc in every damn game. Not too mention it seems like it's oriented toward a yonger audience.

The very first game I ever played on the "new" (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube)systems was Zone of Enders and I nearly wet myself. So most of my early gaming years were nostaligc memories of Sony.

I think many of us are irrevocably linked to our first console's makers. Sega for me, switched to Nintendo after (to my regret) I never got a Dreamcast.

So I'll be stood by Nintendo until they go under.

Hideo Kojima has a habit of only using in-game engine footage for his trailers. Tell me again this is fake?

The one thing i'm glad about is the fact that microsoft are bringing out the 360 first because it means that ps3 will cost around about the same amount which is good, they're hardly going to make it more expensive. On graphics i'm not that bothered they'll both be amazing but gameplay is the most important part of a game without it it aint a game. Plus PS3 will most likely have the next GTA on it not straight away mind, but it will. You people who go on about one thing should take the others into acount, I'll probably go for the ps3 cause then i can still play my ps2/one games.
