My Friend got beat up by Black People at a Katrina Fundraiser.

So I got beat up by black people today

I'm part of this asian (even though I'm not asian, but my mother "insisted") buddhist temple ("turned" buddhist 2 months ago after my mother "insisted" again) and we were passing out flyers for a furniture/pottery sale. All the proceeds would go directly to Katrina victims. Well the guys over at the temple weren't exactly very street smart.... cuz they assigned me to hand out papers in downtown Pomona (think mini downtown LA) in my light blue shirt with chinese words all over it. Well guess what happened next.... a bunch of blacks beat the **** out of me after I asked them if they wanted to donate to Katrina victims.-That other dude.

Pssh. Kanye West should have said, "Black people don't care about Black People."

Sorry to hear that, man! Thats what you get for trying to help people when you look different from them! I guess racism isn't just a "white thing"?

As Chris Rock pointed out, black people are more racist than white people. Black people hate not only white people, but the black people better described by the n-word...

I'll I can say is some of you ppl on this thread are racist pricks. You cannot say that an entire race of ppl is more racist than another. INDIVIDUALS are racist. People make people racist. So maybe you ppl should grow up learn the facts and open up you tiny little minds.

Dude, you're racist too. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680728&postcount=92) Everyone is. So before you say, "Grow up and open up you tiny little minds," maybe you should think for a second.

I didn't see white people purposely attacking and burning down Korean-owned businesses during the L.A. Riots.

In my 20 years here as a Philippino/Chinese-American, I have experienced more racism from blacks and hispanics than I ever did from whites. I can't speak much about how racism is prevailant in single race on a national level, but I've had more than my fair share of it from blacks and it's enough to make me roll me eyes everytime I hear about "equal rights" from blacks leaders.

Let's face it, blacks don't give a shit about Asians.

"Black people don't care about Black People."

And the assumption that black people should care more other black people than other groups isn't racist how, exactly?

No face this fact: In the US nobody gives a shit about anyone but themselves. This country was built on selfishness, and that's the general code of conduct. Wherever you go you'll find people screwing over friends and family to get some trivial advancement in life. And whatever charity people give is usually tax deductible pennies on the dollar.

If someone has no respect for their own race or culture, what made you think they'd have respect for yours? It's not something to get disillusioned over.

People who feel that everyone hates them feel perfectly justified in hating everyone else. Instead of taking responsibility for their actions, they make everyone else responsible for their actions, ultimately rendering themselves powerless to do anything about their plight. They are like people in a leaky boat that believe making holes in the bottom of the boat will let the water out.

If all one has in life is pain and suffering, then that is all that one can give to others.

This is where you are wrong. Hate is an emotion. I harbor no hatred nor love for the afformentioned peoples above because it is waste of my time and effort. I simply do not care.

So if you met a black person who was actually a nice guy (they do exist) would you hold the actions of people who bear his resemblance against him? If so then how would you justify such a stance?

Yes I was addressing you. Do you think the bad actions you have described would reflect on any black person anywhere? In other words were you to meet a random black person tomorrow would you hold them responsible for what a group of black people from LA did ten years ago?

The black communites acted as near-whole and attacked another community different from them (and this isn't the first time as there were similar riots against Jews in New York). Have people gotten better in 10 years? I'll tell you my answer after the next riot.

I asked a Yes/No question. If you met someone who was a good person and was also black, would you hold the actions of other black people against the person? That is the scope of the question. You can elaborate on your answer if you want but please provide an answer.

Yep. Though the meeting would never degenerate to the point of being uncivil since there are some subjects I purposely avoid to make life all the easier for myself. In retrospect, maybe in another 10 years I won't be thinking the same way but I am slow to forgive other people's trespasses (imagined or real).

If it hadn't been attacks things would have different. When I served in the Philippines, it felt like we were fighting ALL the Communists, then later it felt like we were fighting ALL the Muslims. This is of course, untrue, but it honestly did feel that way at my age.

I got that same feeling during the riots, only this time, it wasn't my country I was protecting, but rather people who looked similar to me and it felt like we were fighting ALL the blacks.

Some things are hard to forget.

This is really the problem. My friends of various ethnic backgrounds are not consulted on weither or not it'd be okay to beat up the Buddhist collecting donations in LA. Their opinion is neither solicited nor would it be listened to if they could have given it.

To make this about 'Black People' instead of 'those assholes who beat up someone taking donations' is, really, a problem. Yours. ("Yours" being the ones you have that distinguishing problem.)

People don't have a hive mind, they aren't involved in every wrong someone who looks like them does.
