well, let me just start by saying that i have a very, very short temper. With that said, I've been playing my old N64 alot lately, mainly the Zelda games, becasue, well im just weird like that, and while playing i was getting particularly frustrated with a certian thing i couldn't achieve and I slamed the left side (D-pad side) down on the arm of my couch which broke the two shafts on that side, which didn't really bother me, but now the controler's joy stick won't work, and im playing Majora's Mask so i can't just save turn it off and go get a new controller, you have to get to a check point and without the use of the joy stick thats impossible. All the other buttons work (even the Z button with its close proximity to the joy stick) and the down action on the joystick has started working, but its stuck or somthing and can't be controlled, So if you've ever had a problem like this and know of anyway to fix it (becasue i really don't want to just turn off my console becasue of the reprocussions that would have on my progress in the game) please post here and tell me how, i've already tried taking it apart and none of the wired apear to be compromised, and nothing that the joy stick controls seems to be broken, so if you can help, please post here.

I have a possible solution even with the damaged controller. Not sure if this'll work, but since it's Majora's Mask:
If you've acquired it already, play that song that lets you warp. If I'm not wrong, wherever you're set down, it's in front of one of those Save&Quit statues. So just talk to it and then tell it to save and quit.

yeah, i thought of doing that, except, i don't have the ocarina set to one of the C buttons so i can't access it, thanks though

Leave it on, and go and get a new controller.

i think i fixed it, at least temporarliy until i can get a new one, all it took was a small flash light (the joystick moves gears which move wheels that have holes thourgh which an LED passes, thus controlling movement, and apparently the LED was fucked up) thanks anyway
