Your habits and rituals? [ non-religious ones, that is ]

When I get up in the morning, one of the first things I do is turn on the news. Then I make my self-allotted two cups of coffee, add honey and flavored creamer, hop on the Internet and check my mail, update my nations on NS, and check threads in which I have an interest on NS General. These rituals have become almost religious with me.

What are your rituals? They don't have to be limited to just what you do in the mornings. :)

I repeatedly check the end of my bed for spiders at night. I'm not even frightened of them, it's odd.
I pause CD tracks once at 5 seconds, once at 18 seconds. This is a ritual that has built up over years - it used to be horribly out-of-control and I'd HAVE to touch things five times or whatever.
I change my thoughts whenever I pass by people, just in case they're listening. Seriously.

Hmm... One that just tickles my fiancee pink is a small chant I use whenever I'm cracking eggs. I've done it for so many years now that I no longer am aware that I am even doing it.

I crack (?) my fingers, my elbows, my shoulders, my neck and my spine constantly (my spine is difiguered, only way to relieve the pain). It's very disturbing for me and people around me, but I can't stop for long.

For the weekday, I usually get up at 6.00. First thing I do is go for a 10-15 minute run (after turning on the coffee machine). Then I get back, have a cup of coffee and some breakfast (usually porridge or cereal). Then have a shower, get dressed and around 7.00, set off for work. Sometimes my 2 children interupt the smooth running of this process.... and in winter, I don't do the running... the same time can be consumed by defrosting the car... so no extra sleeping....

You keep your car in the freezer? ( just kidding! ) :D

I use to run in the mornings until I read an article that showed it was easier on your heart to run in the afternoons or evenings.

I crack my joints (knuckles, toes, fingers, spine, neck, and then periodic other things like jaw or knees) obsessively, and I wash my hands every hour or so.
The most elaborate washing being everyday when I am done with work and classes I have a little chant that I go through about washing the sins of the day away with the dirt. I started doing it at around the point where someone finally explained to me the whole Pontious Pilate hand washing thing, and I've stuck with it even after losing most of my other religious trappings.

well there are a few strange habits i have. for example, i always try to avoid the seperation cracks in the cement while walking [it has nothing to do with not wanting my mother to break her back, it's just something i do(the not stepping on the cracks, not breaking my mother's back :p )], in any room i'm in if the door is not closed i HAVE to close it, otherwise i get really annoyed and also if i'm going to watch tv there can't be toys, or other clutter in my line of sight or shoes apart, i don't care where they go as long as i can't see them. i think i might possibly have ocd.... oh well

I've been trying to stop doing that for the past month. It is getting really annoying.

I go to the same resturant every Tuesday and Thursday for lunch. It has an ever-changing daily special though, so there isnt a specific dish I eat.

Every night I listen to the same CD when I go to sleep, I have for at least six years.

I will never throw pennies in the trash when I'm cleaning up a room.

Also, I always pick up pennies I find on the ground.

I have many other little rituals, I just cant think of them at the time, most are second-nature to me.

In the morning, I wake up and sit at my computer for about an hour to wake up. Then, on the way out, I must have my keys in hand and my school keys around my neck as I walk out the door, then I lock the door and drive to school.

When I get home... I put my keys in their container, take off my shoes, and usually change into my pajamas as fast as possible. :p

I wait for a minimum of two rings before I answer the phone.
I never walk under ladders.
If I scratch my butt I have to smell my fingers.
I cannot watch a movie or TV show if I've missed the first five minutes.
I blow on my lighter after I use it.

I have to scrub the bathtub before I take a bath/shower. I don't know why.
If I had to quess, it would be that most of my life I never had to share a bathroom with anyone, and so when I got married all of the sudden one day I realized that someone elses feet had touched the bathtub. It creeped me out so I scrubbed the tub and now I do it every day. I still can't understand why though because if I go to like a bed and breakfast I don't scrub the whirlpool tub there only the one at home.
I think it is some kind of psychosis

Hmm... that's interesting. I'm not usually in the mood to run in the evening though.... too tired... and I like to have quality family time (how sad... )

Can you say "Borderline obsessive/compulsive" boys and girls? Heh! Don't forget slightly paranoid. I used to look over my shoulder every few minutes when in the room I'm in right now - for no apparent reason.

I can't sleep if any drawers or wardrobe doors are open in my room, it just creeps me out.
And I never leave the house without a book in my handbag. Seriously. I read when waiting for the bus, on the bus, during lunch, when I'm in a cafe, anywhere really.

when i get home at 4 and get changed i come downstairs sit on the comfy chair and go onto the computer, no matter what im doing i HAVE to have the TV on , even though im not watching it, i can't cope with the silence.

i also cant wear any shirt with the sleeves rolled down, after two years of highschool and the policy of wear a shirt sleeves rolled up and no jumper all year no matter the weather.

i get annoyed when i cant put my hands in my pockets.

It all stems from my school.

I have a few quirky habits:
-I have to be listening to music when I shower. Now that I hate all radio stations, I'm running out of CD's, but I can't help it.
-When I eat coloured candies, I pre-arrange the eating order. I always begin with my least favourite colour, and end with my favourite. But I don't just eat all the oranges at once. I have to shuffle them up and balance them, and, in the end, the pattern only makes sense to me.
-If I think someone is watching me, I stretch. Usually a forward bend. I have to feel distracted, because I can't let the other person know that I know that they are watching me.
-Even though my radio station plays music that I hate, I have to listen to the morning show while I'm getting ready for school.
-I go to the bathroom between all my classes, even though I don't really need to. I'm paranoid about having to pee in the middle of a lesson.
-I do my daily computer rounds, even when I'm bored of them.

When I get I make a cup of coffee, have a shower, drink my coffee (I used to have a fag at this point too, bah now I have a gf who tries to keep me healthy) listen to the news on the radio (Radio 4. Oh the shame, I must one of the few people my age who listen to Radio 4 and not the popular music radio stations :p) whilst getting dressed. Then read a bit whilst I finish my coffee.

I also change my thoughts when I walk past them. I thought I was the only one
