I'm just curious what characters people choose when playing any D&D or D20 or whatever-you-like-RPG. Still, it's based on D&D alignment system.

I play mostly Neutral Good characters and you? Why?

Amen brother, but I'm still partial to Lawful Good myself, I play the way I try to live. (Go Monks!)

Depends on what I have in mind for the charachter.I´ve played a schizophrenic Butcher with a chaotic evil/lawful neutral mindset that came in completely random bursts once.It was fun,but he died in his first adventure...

I haven't played in a while, but I used to vary quite a lot. Neutral good is probably my favourite, though I have dabbled in Chaotic evil... I've never tried Lawful evil, but I think I should one day. It sounds fun. :D

I usually go random and allow the dice to decide, it's more fun that way and make for some REALLY screwed up PCs.

nuetral in good vs. evil
chaos or law doesn't matter to me, so iguess that means i'm nuetral on that, too.
and nature related, except completely against magic.(i have something big against magic things OOC so my characters all do too... not good roleplay, yes)

WOW haven't played the real DnD in a age and a day. When I did play it was mostly a Chaotic Neutral character and I'd weave in an out of the others allignments depending on the group at hand. We never really played by the true rules, still it was fun.

P.S. dont ever play at work. Your unimaginitive imbicille co workers might hold it agains't you forever.

Damn,......Anyone up for a game? I miss it. :D

We could make something like Planar Factions with each government sharing one or another philosophy. We could base them on our nation's gov. "alignement". Just a never-happening idea, I guess.

Depends on what I'm lookin' to do. My favorites are Chaotic Good and Lawful Evil, the latter of which I'm playing right now in a high level pre epic campaign, mostly because I have to be Lawful Evil for my character to work - it's a Monk/Swashbuckler/Assassin/Teflammar Shadowlord, level 16.

Huh, that link was pretty accurate.

Lawful Evil Half-Elf Thief

Lawful Evil characters believe that a nice, orderly system of life is perfect for them to abuse for their own advancement. They will work within 'the system' to get the best that they can for themselves.

Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Thieves are the most roguish of the classes. They are sneaky and nimble-fingered, and have skills with traps and locks. While not all use these skills for burglary, that is a common occupation of this class.

I entered what my Assassin would say rather than what I would say, and they came close. While he is no thief, he is a stealthy type and works for money. He follows his own code of honor while still being a killer for hire, so Lawful Evil makes sense - plus, he has to be, because otherwise his other classes would not fit. Half-Elf is off, as he is a drow, but he is almost always under the effects of Alter Self making anyone without True Seeing or something similar assume he's an elf.

I dont believe in alignments and never have. The moral system of a character should be much more complex than what an alignment can describe. I wont choose any specific alignment unless the DM cant handle playing without alignments. If that's the case, Ill choose Chaotic/Neutral but not let that affect my character.

Chaotic good to true neutral. Although I had a chaotic evil character in the late 1970's that tended to frighten refs, pc, and npcs alike ...

Chaotic Neutral Elf Mage Cleric
Follower Of Azuth

Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral characters are interesting, and quite sane. They believe in disorder first and foremost, and will thus strive for that disorder in everything they do. This means that they will do whatever seems the most interesting, at any given time.

Race:
Elves live to see everything, even if they stand perfectly still with their eyes closed & their fingers in their ears.

Primary Class:
Mages are as badly dressed as they are boring.

Secondary Class:
Clerics only hear one voice in their heads.

Deity:
Azuth is the Lawful Neutral god of boring, badly dressed stiffs.

Screw that. I would have been perfectly happy being anything but an elf, a wizzer & a priest. If my old CN character had to comment on this he'd say "All sensible elves commit preemptive suicide outta boredom, before they're 10 years old. A mages are more boring than elves, and there are so many gods that no sensible person can resist attempting to wothship each one. Perhaps that's how elves keep boredom at bay."

He was enormously fond of common sense, and didn't doubt for a second that only he possesed any. Unfortunately, he was also quite charismatic, and often got his mates in a great deal of trouble. Some people play without a full deck. He played with a deck of surprises.

The only other alignments I had fun playing were LG & LE. But unbreakable stereotypes gets boring after a while. Unfortunately I suspect I might be CN in real life as well, though I'd prefer being CG. CG people are always so nice & understanding.

Screw that.
<snip>

Likewise. I got

Chaotic Good Elf Bard Mage
Follower Of Hanali Cenanil

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

Deity:
Hanali Cenanil is the Chaotic Good elven goddess of love, beauty, and art. She is also known as the Heart of Gold and Lady Goldheart. Her followers delight in creation and youth, and work to spread happiness, love, and beauty. Their preferred weapon is the dagger.
That's just embarrassing. They could at least have made me a gnome, I did score equally on gnomic and elven tendancies, after all.

I wouldn't have minded being a gnome bard mage. At least that would have been silly.

Weell.. back in My day we didn't fancy any of this AD&D stuff. Back then me and Gary Gygax - well, we played good or neutral characters that mostly got killed by evil traps. Then along came the Monster Manual that contained the Chuthlu mythos (before The Great Lawsuit Wars), and genuinely chaotic evil characters became possible... but I digress...

Where's my cane?

edit: According to the linked website:
Chaotic Neutral Dwarf Mage Fighter
Follower Of Azuth

Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral characters are unstable, and frequently insane. They believe in disorder first and foremost, and will thus strive for that disorder in everything they do. This means that they will do whatever seems 'fun' or 'novel' at any given time.

Race:
Dwarves are short and stout, and easily recognizable by their well-cared-for beards. They are hard workers, and adept at stonework and engineering. They tend to live apart from other races; generally in deep, underground excavated systems, and as such tend to be distant from other races.

Primary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

Secondary Class:
Fighters are the warriors. They use weapons to accomplish their goals. This isn't to say that they aren't intelligent, but that they do, in fact, believe that violence is frequently the answer.

Deity:
Azuth is the Lawful Neutral god of wizards and mages. He is also known as the High One, and is the Patron of Wizards. His followers believe that a systematic approach to magic is the best, and they strive for calm and caution in order to avoid accidents. They wear shimmering robes, and are well-versed in magic, as well as typical priest spells. Azuth's symbol is a hand with a raised, glowing index finger.

I've only ever played one dwarf, and SHE was a CN basketcase who really liked florentine shortsword fighting...

The program, it knows me too well...

Ohh, Gary Gygax. It's such a love-hate relationship.

For myself, NG. As for characters I play, they run the gamut. My longest lasting PC so far is CE, and the two runners up are/were both LG.

I guess I just like the corner alignments... Starting Inquisitions is fun! Especially when the DM doesn't expect it!

The test gave me an Neutral Evil Human Thief who worships Mask (Get it? He's the god of thieves, and thieves wear masks, so he's a mask. Get it?)
I s'pose that works, I've always like Neutral Evil the best, although those times when I play I generally compromise with Lawful Evil, because they get on better as part of a group.
Noone trusts the poor ickle Netural Evil halfling, they always think he's up to something criminal, just because he might have had their money pouch.
