I have two nations, one ran by a man and one ran by a woman. I'm not too keen on saying which I am, but yeah, I've lied about my identity before. Although not on anything important, and not to an extreme. I've never pretended to be a forty year old man or a naive fifteen year old girl.

Yep. I tell people I'm Joselle most of the time. Of course, it's gone so far that 'Josie' is part of my personality now, so it's not really faking anymore. Still, yes, I do kind of have an alter-ego.

I do have a friend who pretended to be a 14 yr old girl at one point,though. It was mostly to entertain/harass perverted old men on Yahoo,though.

I'm the fakinest faker in the whole faking world. Whenever someone on yahoo IMs me and they don't speak good enough english to not give me a headache,(even if it's their native language) I always pretend to be way younger and under the guidance of my parents who would be pissed if they caught their twelve year old daughter talking to a perverted greasy old man.

I actually have a friend who has limitless alter-egos... he gets on pretending to be random people and fucks with their heads... almost scary to think there are people out there who do stuff like that, but it's friggin hilarious. :headbang:

very little other than that, i'm ussually fairly open about myself, and in most cases when i'm not i just phrase things so that they're completely true but too vague to tell the trueth from, such as how on nationstates i've not given my age, but i've said things that are too vague to tell age from about it.(actually, i believe i've said it twice). doesn't matter too much to me though.

No, I haven't. I despise lying. Lied and hid parts of my life so much when I was younger that I really do hate it, it makes me feel like a weakling with no honor.

I faked it before there was an Internet. With the help of a buddy and his girlfriend, I convince a girl I was a Lieutenant and a co-pilot when I was really an enlisted aircraft avionics instructor.

Another time I quit an employment agency and went to work for another employment agency. Because of contractual issues, I changed the name I used to conduct business from my real name to a "professional name." When my wife would call the company and ask for me by my real name they would tell her, "I'm sorry but nobody by that name works here." She would have to call back and ask for me by my professional name to talk to me.

i cant be bothered to fake it. i dont tell all that much about myself anyway. and besides, if i were a 15 year old boy would it really matter?

i try to live my online life in a way such that it doesnt matter if the people i deal with are who they say they are or not. i only ask that if they pretend to be what they arent, they be good enough at it that it isnt glaringly obvious that its a lie.

dont we all have someone here whom we suspect isnt who he says he is? not that we all suspect the same person but surely we have all looked at a post and thought "no one who is <whatever> would say something like that" or "didnt he say he was something else than this in some other post?"

That's the closest I've come. I don't think I'm enough of a jerk or a good enough liar to pull off a fake identity for long.

I've never faked who I was, but on one site the running gag was that I was never direct about my gender or sexuality when asked. Usually I would just hit on anyone in the [chat] and pretend to be bi.

But I'm always honest about who I am, where I'm from, what my beliefs are, etc.
