Sweet. I'm glad Katrina is good for entertainment, as we all knew it would be.

Lol, when the reporter said "There was a cloud up there in that corner" I totally thought she said clown. I admit....I shuddered at that thought.

Mmmm, it is most likely that eerie feeling you commonly get when you walk into a ghost town. A place which projects the feeling that hundreds, if not thousands of people were here, going about their business, all just gone. There's a tangible thing that gets impressed into a place when people are there. Not ghosts, but how shall we call it? Hmm, a presence then. The same way you sometimes know that there's a person behind you.

In this case, you could also call it a conflict mentaly. With a city, you instinctively expect there to be lots of people, but with reality, it's empty. Trying to reconcile the two can lead to conflicts and make people prone to jumpiness.

If one were to visit the areas affected by the Chernobyll disaster, particularly the cities, one could almost get the same feeling. Hundreds of thousands of acres, including entire villages and cities, all of them empty. And all of them utterly silent. The human mind isn't really built for all that silence. In a true natural setting, you always get sounds from nature, be it insects or animals. In a city, you get artificial sounds such as motors and what not. But in an abandoned city? Silence.

And sometimes, silence and utter lack of activity, makes you much more aware, and much easier to spook.
