All I saw was two idiots yelling at each other. It would have been interesting had they been bikini models, in tub of chocolate pudding.

O'Reilly got owned. He could have gotten owned even more if Donahue would have called him on his bullshit that Jeremy Glick accused Bush of orchestrating 9/11.

wonder if O'reilly's nephew actually enllisted?

Doesn't really hand his ass to him, but I'd say Donahue get's the split when going to the cards.

Jeez, two extremists yelling at each other.

I agree with both of them to a point. I think the Iraq War to begin with was insanely stupid. Not only was Saddam not a large threat but they went in there with as little planning as possible and botched things completely.

However, now that they're in there, they can't leave until the Iraq Constitution has been legally passed and the Iraq military is strong enough to take out the remaining insurgents without U.S. support. They can't leave yet, otherwise Iraq will become a terrorist state.

Final point: the U.S. military is voluntary only. Everyone who signs up should realize that their life could end relatively soon. Each man and woman that goes overseas knows that they could die and are willing to die for their country. While I don't think that lives should be wasted as a result of this, if there are people who want to serve overseas, send them.

Really? I always pictured it more as:

"I find your lack of intelligence disturbing."

You sum up everything nicely. All those who try to demand we pull the troops out now lack any politicial and military sense and those who try to say "you send YOUR kid to Iraq/Afghanistan/etc" have no sense to begin with and need to get their heads out of the seventies when the Draft ended.

wow, you really have to be sucked into your own ideology to think someone won this argument. Neither was any more rational then the other. Just because you agree in general principle with what Phil says doesn't mean he won. He didn't really say anything convincing. They made more of an emotional argument then a well thought out debate.

Amen. It was a very loud, and very stupid, and very inarticulate version of the typical debate I see here on NS.

It looked like a lot of flaming and ad hominems to me. Both O'Reilly and Donahue are complete idiots, and the video of their little halfwit peccadillo confirms this.

Agreed … though I have to say I am surprised bill argued for as long as he did … he usually just cuts to break or something when he finds out he is not going to rhetoric his way over his opponent (not saying all his opponents are good or right or any silly claim like that … but when the battle gets tough bill usually moves on rather then dealing with it)

Anyone who thinks that O'Reilly or Donahue are serious debaters, or knowledgable experts in anything except shameless self-promotion probably believes that Chuck Schumer was competent to question Roberts and probably also believes that Bush is an articulate speaker.

Most of our public figures, especially in Hollywood and the media, have little intellectual strength. They are weaklings with large oral cavities that spew arrant nonsense in an attempt to sell themselves.
