Not enough info for me

WARNING: poor grammer and spelling ;)

Most of these issues are fun to read and think about but they never have enough actions...(im a bit of a perfectionist sometimes)

For example:
The Issue
A tabloid magazine, The National Incriminator, has revealed the sordid details of an affair between one of your top advisors, Robert Lotsalovin, and his secretary.

The Debate
"They found out I did WHAT!?" Advisor Lotsalovin says in his morning meeting in your office. "This just can't happen! How can government officials do their jobs properly if we have to work under the constant scrutiny of these idiotic supermarket tabloids? I say tabloid newspapers must be banned, and we must not allow newspapers to speak ill of our government officials... for the good of Garthman, of course.."
[Accept]

"Unbelievable!" says Reverend Al McGuffin of the local Catholic church. "Our government officials must be held to a higher standard than this! Mr. Lotsalovin must be removed from office and jailed. We cannot allow such disgusting corruption within the halls of justice!"
[Accept]

"Whoa, whoa, hey, now..." argues Senator Abraham Hanover. "What happened to Mr. Lotsalovin is no different than affairs that happen all over Garthman every day! Before you know it, they'll be after YOUR sexual history! I think what we need to do is take the public attention off of it somehow, perhaps by... oh, I don't know... giving them a tax cut! That'll divert their attention from this momentary distraction just long enough for Mr. Lotsalovin's divorce process to end!"
[Accept]

I would go for the second one but i wouldnt want mr lotsalovin to be jailed...only removed from government so i dismissed the issue.

Should i only think about how the issues are said excactly or should i imagien a slight change which non of them say (too the nearest one).

Garthman~I should make a post about efficiency but im too lazy...(message me if someone takes up the challenge please (make it good :p)

There are a few issues that almost speak to me directly & the option that I'd take is almost predetermined. Then there are some issues that cry out to be roll-played as your national leader / people / social archetypes / etc. And there are some that are, intentionally, just plain goofy. Some are sublime.

In this case I took the tax cut route - because it would result in a tax cut & I thought that the kingdom needed it. In a stronger role-playing mode, well, there are so many mindless aristocratic fops running around this kingdom that I could not see how anyone would have cared. And thus a dismissal. I did go with the tax cut this time though.

Just look at it as the way things happen in the real world, especially politics. You can't always get things exactly how you want them and might have to make dirty compromises. In this case, if you want to be moralistic you have to sacrifice your minister. I don't dismiss options that often but do when I really don't like any option. For example, in the gun control issue there are two options that restrict guns but option three makes you blame video games for violence. Doesn't really work well if the country is meant to be libertarian, as a couple of mine are.

The issue choices are purposely exaggerated because in real-life politics, there isn't always the perfect solution available.

Both posts, in their entirety, hit the nail on the head. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the game does this intentionally to make a point, both by parodying & mirroring, real political life.

I agree that it is exaggerated but for my perfect nation (which im trying to acheive :)). I cant make it how i want to....i have ideas about certain aspects on how a society could be ruled by but It seems most ideas are based on real life and most of real life is playing it safe.

How (and its a big question) would you change a society to become a fully efficient and productive society whilst maintaining culture, Freedom and individualism. The only thing i can think of is if the whole world was to join together and make it so Different countrys had different rules, religion and ideologys whilst maintaing an effort to help each other through technology, supplies etc. BUT then it becomes a paradox because some ideolagies would clash. (obviously). Its very infuriating not being able to make everyone happy...(unless u force happyness on every one)

Ah, Paranoia! Those were the days!
The Computer is crazy.
The Computer is happy.
The Computer wants you to be happy.
This will drive you crazy.
Sometimes, I miss my old role-playing gang. But I have an actual life now, alas. :p
