Yes, I got this from the 'Canada' thread, but I made this thread more international.
Just name 10 reasons why you love your country (and if you live in the U.S, you may name why you love the U.S or the state you live in)
I love Japan because -
1.) The people are very hard working
2.) The people are very smart

7.) The economy Japan holds
8.) The women there are pretty :D
9.) Japan is an environmental place
10.) Japan is a very clean and advanced nation along with places a large amount of emphasis on education, healthcare and the environment.

Well, not everyone hates us, as the list of countries offering help after Katrina shows, but quite a few do. Too bad.

3.) Hardly anyone questions religion
Why the hhhhh this is a "good" thing? I think there must've been an English-language mistake. Does this mean that no one politicizes religion, so that it is free to exist in its spiritual form (without the politics)?
Perhaps you should consider the Western religions and then think why people would want to question them.
Japan is great w.r.t. religion and particularly religious tolerance, though. No one thinks twice if you have Christian weddings and Buddhist funerals. No one expects you to be particularly religious to be trustable.
Either way, Sweden is an awesome place. That's enough for me :)
Well, we do have a lot to be grateful for.
oh, you got me at my soft spot...*sighs deeply*
so fass, you're from sweden? let me kiss your feet, ye?
and as for sweden..i don't hink that my love could run deeper, but i'll try..gotta work this new fact in somehow..
*sighs again*
so? i don't qualify for it, but could any swedish person please put in the fass thing whenever they psot their list? thanks.

What I mean is hardly anyone I know says "Why is your God real?" or anything of that sort. Religious arguements hardly take place and extremism is not there.

and 9 more reasons
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
I am a liberal. I believe in keeping an open mind, and treating all people with compassion, respect and tolerance.
I am a conservative. I believe that Enlightenment values form the cornerstone of our society, and I practice the virtues of integrity, civility and personal responsibility.
I am a libertarian. I believe in limited government, free minds and free markets.
I am a progressive, because there is always room for improvement.
I am an environmentalist. I long for cleaner communities, clean air and clean water. I believe our natural treasures should be protected.
I am a capitalist. I believe that ambition, competition, and innovation can provide the answers to some of our greatest challenges.
I am a democrat, because my Governor is a Republican, and I choose to exercise my right to vote and select his opponent in the General Election.
I am a republican - To be more precise, I will change my registration next year so that I may participate in the 2008 Presidential Primary.
I am an Independent. I am a free agent, split-ticket voter. I recognize that political parties exist for the benefit of politicians, not the people.
I am an American because here, I can be all of the above...
oh, lo and behold, fass. you never know which disguise the lord almighty choses in order to reveal the divine truth of the FUTURE to us. he might as well use an NS account, for all we know. the mods are but his diciples..
Crendonia
22-09-2005, 23:03
Ten reasons I love Crendonia
1. We would never elect a President barely able to read at an eighth grade level. And our leaders are accountable for their dishonesty or incompetence.
2. We would never invade acountry and kill tens of thousands of its citizens predicated on a lie, merely to satisfy some insane national hubris or keep our backers in the oil industry happy
3. if anyone mentions "intelligent design" they are laughed out of town
4. we havent gutted our social security system or made health care an option only for the wealthy
5. We can say "no child left behind" with out supressing a sniggering laugh
6. We don't allow every redneck suffering from a penis inadequacy syndrome to own a shitload of guns
7. We don't execute our own citizens - or anyone else's for that matter and we are signatories to the United Nations Charter on the Rights of children - so we don't execute children, either.
8. If we have a natural disaster we dont sit on our hands and do nothing just because the victims are black and poor
9. We would never threaten a pristine wilderness with oil drilling simply because our leaders have long standing ties to the oil industry
10. In our country, your religion isn't an excuse for your failings as a human being.
Not that any REAL Nation would do this, so go Crendonia! :-)

I don't need to country wank in some feeble display of nationalism.
Come on, you know that Sweden is the greatest!
I wuv Ireland because of,
1) Beautiful landscapes.
2) Good economy.
3) Generally good society.
4) Moderately left-leaning population.
5) The music.
6) Down to earth, unpretentious people.
7) Fairly low crime rates.
8) No more plastic bags.
9) Relatively pollution-free.
10) Dublin.
Come on, you know that Sweden is the greatest!
No, no it isn't. There is no such country.
- very few dumb nationalists
- when there is a nazi-demonstration with 50 nazis there will always be a anti-demonstration with at least 2000 sensible people and/or left-radicals (and about 5000 policemen)
- democracy + we have a voting-system where small parties have a chance (not "the-winner-takes-it-all", but proportional representation)
- only few poor are really poor (at least if you compare it to eg the USA and of course there are other economically more powerful nations, but in few the poor are better off)
- the probability that some wacko who wants to shoot me owns a gun is very low
- most people are either not religious or religious in a liberal and sensible way
- I do to (yet :( ) have to pay to study
- freedom of speech (not as liberal as in America, but ok)
- in contrast to some other industrialised countries one cannot be arrested for a longer time without trial
- ecologically progressive
this one occurded to me later, but i do not want to delete any of the points mentioned:
- free traveling in 16 countries !
(whole "old" EU)

Oh you mean the contempt we have the for the morons in the Liberal Party? They'e earned that for years of wasting our money on things like the gun registry or ignoring the issue of western alienation, which they have singled handedly created since Trudeau. Other than that, Canada is a superb country and I wouldn't live anywhere else.

This was hard.
5) We're a country that cares. We care for our neighbors, and even those who aren't.
3) We don't take any lip from anyone. We have the greatest military.
USA cares about the world, i couldnt agree less, is that why you dont want Iran to have Nuclear energy, or Arab Oil Rich countries to have the rest of the 40% share to invest in THEIR resources???
or is that the reason behind invading Iraq and Afghanistan???
or is it the same reason that you dont want Korea to have Nuclear power or weapons, because you care...
is that the reason why your government is spending Billions of dollar on Iraq while Leaving 100s dead in Katrina, and who knows what in 11 sep.???
but i guess that also comes under
1) Our freedom. We can do what we want, when want to. We decide what occupation we want, what lifestyle we want to live.

Oh my god not this again
1) We attacked Iraq because the Taliban attacked US. It wasn't on-the-whim 'Hey let's kill Osama'.
2) We toppled Suddam Hussein because he was an evil asshole of a dictator and needed to be found in a hole.
3) If the people in the Katrina-hit area were too stupid to leave, taht was their own damn fault, not the government's. The ONLY reason the Federal Government can be blamed tehre is because they sent teh National Gaurd to Iraq. Otherwise, it's the problem of the STATE GOVERNMENTS NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S.
4) September 11 was the result of assholes who think that they're the only ones who are right. Basicly, world domination. And Osama Bin Laden tortures people (Which I believe is against rules stated in teh Koran) so he needed to be sent on the run. And incompetent FBI and CIA agents.

America kicks ass because:
1) Bill of Rights
2) Not made up of pussy liberals (though we have some whiny moral conservatives), except for Hollywood (unfortunately, that wing is also made up Scientologists so it's 2x as bad)
3) Baseball rules
4) kick ass landscape
5) Me
6) Me
7) Me
8) Me
9) Me
10) Me
I seriously couldn't think of any between 5-10 because I haven't traveled much and where I live is nothing amazing in landscape.
10) Football. We're the only country that has football. (American Football)
Ummm... Canada has the CFL
(no specific order intended)
Thats probably why Germany is my backup country.
OK my ten reasons for liking hockey.

2. Lots of guns (7 for every 10 families) and we dont shoot each other that much.
3. Forests everywhere.
4. Quebec
5. Not a segragated as the US

8. Can't get arrested for illegally downloading files
9. The govt will provide you with what you need to do drugs, sometimes even the drug itself
10. Women from Middle-Eastern countries get themselves raped to get refugee status in Canada.
5) left-wing parties usually win the elections
The Liberals are left wing? So why did they sell off BC Rail, BC Gas and allow a 2-Tier healthcare system--well in BC anyways.

In no particular order-
- Super economy
- Lots of freedoms, as seen in the world's oldest living Constitution
- Beatiful enviroment; lush forests, snowy mountains, sandy deserts, beaches
- Awesome cars
- Cool name
- World superpower
- We've won nearly every war we've been in, unlike France... wimps
- We have girls with blonde/brunette/black/red hair (other countries have no more than 2)
- We had Abe Lincoln
- We invented quality control

Reason I love the state I live in:
1) Tends to be a very liberal state
2) Driving distance from beaches, mountains, big cities, etc.
3) The Inner Harbor
4) Crabs
5) Camden Yards (Even if the team that plays there sucks)
6) Close to DC
7) No laws that require ID in schools
8) Not really being in the North or South
9) I'm here
10) The Senator Theater

This is why I love the United States:
-We were/are one of the few countries that can change power without having to shoot someone in the head every time. JFK's head just exploded like that.
-This is one of the few countries I can openly critisize my government and get away with it...for now.
-At one point, we were the world's superpower and other countries modeled themselves after us.
-We have lots of open space and nothing compared to many other specifically European countries.
-We are the only modern country that is creating an empire without other countries noticing it.
-We think we own the world therefore we do. [/conservative logic]
-At one point, people wanted to come to America for it's endless well of openmindedness and opportunities.
-We were the first to develop the nuclear bomb.
-We were the first to put a man on the moon, prooving once and for all that Communism doesn't work.
-We have more diverse food.
