What's the best video game music?

See, sometimes, games have good music. It's a rare occurance (thankfully becoming less so since the technology has evolved to support more and more realistic sound), but what has the best? For this poll (there is unfortunately no poll at the top because I can't think of ten games, or ten pieces that should go up) I have 3 categories. First off, is the individual piece of music. Any music in a video game counts, even if it was.... say, written by mozart and just inserted in. Secondly, is the overall best music for a game, and third, are just tracks that you like, but aren't the best.
Individual piece: Agnus Dei, Homeworld. (By Barber)
Overall best: Medal of Honour, Allied Assault.
Tracks I just like: Republic commando main theme
Cannon fodder Main theme
Homeworld outro
One Winged Angel (Nobuo Uematsu) FFVII
Them be my choices. Now it falls to ye, landlubbers.
Those are nothing compared to the works of Nobuo Uematsu, and the dude who did the music for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross (I forgot his name).

1 word: Metroid.
The original had some of the best 8-bit tunes.
The sequal had some catchy songs.
Super Metroid had the best 16-bit songs, bar none.
Metrod Fusion's were masterpieces.
Both Primes had great music.
Zero Mission remixed the original's music on par with Super.

Half-Life 1 & 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 through 3D Blast (Sonic CD was by far the best soundtrack in its time)
MechWarrior 2 and its EPs
Really anything by Nobuo Uematsu (the FFVIII theme sticks out in particular)

I can't remember HL1's music...But HL2's was atmospheric and used very effectively...if sparingly.

Some of HL2's music was taken from HL1. The music played right when you get into the Citadel comes to mind (right after the screen whites out and you're going around in the little carriage thingy).

I quite liked Fithos Lusec Wecos Winosec, and there is a certain cheesy charm of the waltz piece.

It is my opinion that FFVII has the best Generic Boss Music ever.
And Legend Of The Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon had very enjoyable music.
Very catchy. Espcially the main theme. I looked for that for two years before I found it on Limewire.

Ok Devils Never Cry from Devil May Cry 3 is possibly the best song (that I've heard) used in a game though jsut about every song from FFVII was brillinat as well as some of the boss music (specificly Luther's two forms, I loved that jazz music played in the fight) from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
But best music period goes to DMC3 because that music just got the blood going in the midst of combat and made picking fights with the weaker enimes to enjoyable
