The Guild Wars Thread

I've seen threads for WoW and others, so, why not Guild Wars?

I'll start out by saying - I'm hopelessly addicted to this game.

I've already finished (with my R/W20 - trapper (wilderness survival) & interuptting archer (marksmenship)), and I have 2 more at the 3rd last mission (Me/R20 - Inspiration/Dom/Beast Mastery & Mo/R20 - Healing/Smiting)...

I'm the head of a 3-player guild!

I tried to get one of these started some time ago, to little avail. I'm in a clan, but I'm sort of restricted in my invites as it's supposed to be for NSers. So far there's 4 or 5 of us, I think. The rest are all Roleplayers.

I'm currently trying to finish the game with my W/R, and I'm coming along pretty nicely, but I'm not done yet. He's Ascended, and I've done more than a few missions since Ascending, but I don't know how close I am to being "done."

I really want to get this game, but I'm worried I might have trouble finding a guild. Are there places even for total MMORPG noobs like me? (<- Closest emoticon to "innocent puppylike eyes".)

And how tight are the guilds - do they do a lot of questing/pvp together, or is it a much more occasional or rare thing?

Well, being that you're in NS, you'd have a more or less free shot at the NS guild mentioned above. I can't speak for the other guilds, but we do appear to help newer members along when we can. We don't appear to have done any PvP to speak of, but I want to get into it at some point.

That said, you don't really even need a guild: the community is so large that most times you won't have any trouble putting a party together even if no one else in your guild is on at the time.

If you're an MMORPG veteran, Guild Wars probably won't keep you interested longer than a few weeks to a few months. After leveling a character to 20 there's really nothing left to do in the game except battle in 8v8 arenas or restart a character and go through the exact same storyline a second time. The replay value declines rapidly after you tire of the severely limited PvP and what little a true community the game possesses (the banal use of instancing is why it's virtually nonexistent).
