The last I can remember is Dopesmoker by Sleep. It goes for an hour, so it counts as 5. I went and bought another of their albums online straight after hearing that, too :p

I don't download anything. I get my songs from CDs that I either buy or borrow, friends that download, my siblings that download, heck I've copied a friend's entire musical database once (and if my laptop weren't being in for repairs right now, I'd still be sorting out the stuff I don't listen to and the doubles).

Is Dopesmoker better than Sleep's Holy Mountain?

The general consensus among fans is that it is, but personally, I prefer Sleep's Holy Mountain (which was the one that I bought). Dopesmoker is more drone-oriented...I like it though, obviously, because it convinced me to go and spend money on them. :)

I don't actually download things much, I tend to buy the CDs and get them off that so I have them in 2 formats...
I only buy tracks that I particularly like. So they're very random.

Anyway. I have most recently bought (from iTunes):

Games Without Frontiers - Peter Gabriel
Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
Beautiful Day - U2
Do you Want To - Franz Ferdinand
Rotterdam (or anywhere) - The Beautiful South

They're rather random, just like my taste in music!

I will leave Dopesmoker on my list to buy, but I won't rush out to get it if it's not as good as Sleep's Holy Mountain. Are you familiar with the band Earth?

1. Play.Nice.Kids - 65daysofstatic
2. Thrash Waltz - 65daysofstatic
3. Aod - 65daysofstatic
4. DNL-mash up - 65daysofstatic
5. Ophelia Remix - 65daysofstatic

It's their stumble.stop.repeat EP, and before anyone criticises for 'stealing music' it was from a yousendit link on their website messageboard. I guess had they not wanted people to download it, they would've taken down the link.

Are they those guys that were schoolfriends of Kurt and Krist from Nirvana?

If it's the same band i'm thinking of, I heard one song a while ago, but i wouldn't say i'm familiar with them.

I know a band called Electric Earth, though.

Try Hilkka (http://www.epitonic.com/artists/hilkka.html). From what I remember they were pretty droney...or at least different. Worth a look anyway, it's a free MP3.

There was another band, but I forgot what they were called...i'll get back to you.

Cathedral are pretty damn cool, they're already on my "to-buy" list. :D

Anyhow, i'm off to bed. You might find a few good bands looking through the MP3's at www.stonerrock.com ...that's where I found out about Cathedral. A lot of Doom and Stoner Rock (surprise, surprise :p) groups are in the jukebox there....havent noticed much drone/noise stuff, but there might be.

EDIT- Though forgive me if i've already shown you that link before. I've posted it a couple of times on this forum.

That's a good reason not to go to one of their live shows, but a stupid reason not to check out their music. Besides, their lineup on those albums is rather different to what it was at the time of that incident.

Which ones do you have, out of interest?
