This poll was inspired by the current thread on weed - I wondered who here uses/doesn't use/used to use/never intends to use/wants to use. There shall be a poll!

Used it sometimes, but discovered it to be quite boring. Then I quit.

"used" it (man i hate that term) pretty much every day for about two years - smoking during the day most days for the second year of that (in the first year i only smoked in the evenings). smoked occasionally before that for about another year or so.
have now quit but i intend to smoke again one day

it comes and goes for me, so I put in occasonial.

And so far smoked and ate it (in a cake)

Tried it, but drugs that make me tired and lazy are just not my kinda stuff.

used daily for 10 or so years. Quit about 15 years ago. Smoked it, ate it, drank it (Hashish laced coffee and capacino). Finally figured out I wasn't productive while using it, but only thought I was. So I quit.

On occasion. It's been about 6-7 months since my last spot, but it's likely I'll do it again at some stage.

Tried it in my teens, wasnt interested. Tried again in my 20s and still not interested. Coughed too much and never got effect I was looking for. The scent still interests me,though.

I have a friend that smoke daily since we were teeneagers. He seems to be a little stupider and less responsible every time I see him.

Alcohol always suited me fine. And all I smoke now is a cigar once or twice a week, conditions permitting.

My cousin has deterred me from weed. He's the dumbest 28 year old I've ever met, and a major pothead.

That and I know someone who's a dealer. He ain't a nice person.

Alcohol is much more fun.

I like it because of the unique (and good) feeling that comes with each high, and there is no after "taste" like with drinking. Plus, it makes you feel too stupid to do anything dangerous, unlike alcohol, which while impairing the senses, only serves to foster the arrogance (one of the conditions therein) that comes with drinking and therefore the feeling of immortality (or whatever), leading to people doing stupid crap like driving after one too many drinks.

You know, it's possible he was dumb as a door nail before weed came along.

Though when you're high, you do act stupid (and feel it - which in an ironic kind of way is a good thing). However, I would have to contest that it doesn't automatically make you stupid while sobre, as I know very smart people (someone who just finished his post-grade and scored a GPA of 4.0) who smoke weed.

And of course, I can think of a few really stupid people (like my ex-boyfriend) who never and refused to touch weed (though would touch alcohol and make a game out of getting hammered)...

Although I know plenty of people who ingest weed on a regular basis, and don't suffer any long term negative effects.

I just prefer drinking myself.

Don't smoke weed, cigarettes, take mood-altering drugs, drink alcohol, nor visit psychologists/psychiatrists. I guess that makes me one of the few people capable of living a happy, well-adjusted life without external help.

I knew that there was an enormous drug problem in the countries most forumites are from, but now I know it's not just a "problem". A rate of 10% for "has used at all" would be a "problem". This is a 'ing national shame.

Or, then, I'm in some pothead forum and don't know it.

I must ask, how did you get anything done if you were smoking all day for a year? Weren't you in university?

if you got no effect from smoking pot then it was mixed herbs and grass clippings(sell to 9-14 year olds as pot and make loads of money and you can stand outside police stations and not get busted!!!!!)

I'm not overly keen on alchohol, but am on weed. For me, alchohol goes to my stomach - if I get drunk, i'll always be feeling kinda sick and if I get more than moderately drunk i'll be sick as a dog at the time and morning after.

Weed for me produces a far nicer feeling, is cheaper and probably healthier overall. It's the perfect drug for me - although I very much believe it's a subjective thing. Some get better results from alchohol, some love caffine, some tobacco etc.

I did try it not long ago, but I hated the tobacco ashtray taste, so I decided to stick with whiskey and beer :D

I smoke pot on a daily basis and have for 15 years. I don't drink alcohol, smoke ciggerettes or "do" any other drug except caffine. I used to use coke and crank, but have found that I am a much more stable person when just smoking weed. I am having to quit for a while because of stupid drug testing laws here, but it is not something I am against.

yeah its crazy... i mean you "use" heroin or whatever, not weed. using that term instantly demonises the herb and lumps it in with the hard drugs :rolleyes:

you know its funny... nobody even thinks of smoking pure (no baccy) here in the UK - its just not done. its a major shame cos smoking just weed gives you this lovely herby flavour (recommended to the uk smokers on this forum) :)

Me and my friends in the UK smoke it pure, I will occasionally do it with baccy, but feel less guilty about it without. Mainly I just use bongs - more efficient and healthier than spliffs.

Yeah, I sometimes get depressed with alchohol but never with weed. I will enjoy the odd few pints, but try not to go overboard or I know i'll regret it. Thing is, once you've had enough drinking and everyone around you is doing more it's hard to stop.

Excuse my ignorance as I have never been out of country, but I have a question:
Do people in other countries actually mix their weed with something else and then smoke it????? I have not ever tried that other than the occasional bit of coke on top of a bong hit for a "frosty". Doesn't seem to me that it would be very good with anything else.

Not really. It makes for an easier smoke (IMHO). You can control the amount of weed you put in.

It also helps it burn a lot easier and makes the high hit you faster - sometimes it's difficult to know when you've had enough without tobacco, since it doesn't fully effect you for like 10 mins. I still prefer bongs, but can see the benefits of putting baccy in there.

Just make the bong hit smaller. You are taking away the natural (and special!!) flavors of the weed when mixing it with something like tobacco. Besides, when I go buy blueberry or strawberry weed that is what I want to taste, not the disgusting taste that tobacco gives you! :p

Sorry man, but lumping pot smokers in with common criminals is just ignorant. Pot is nothing, miniscule, ignorable. Pot is damaging to the smoker's health maybe, but a threat to social stability? Bah.

I am a pot smoker, a 'pothead' if you will. I smoke pot every day and have done so for the past five years. I'm not stupid (I forget things and have trouble paying attention to more than one thing at once, but I'm not stupid), I'm not a danger to society (I'm the most non-violent person I know), and I'm not a criminal.

I'm all for people being against 'mind altering substances', but keep the slanderous remarks about us 'users' out of it please.

I prefer blunts, though that maybe because that was the way I started smoking it. If I use a bong, I put (very) crushed ice in it rather than water, cools the smoke, makes it far more palatable.

Well...duh! If any child puts a substance such as weed or alcohol or tobacco into their body from an early age (ie: between 11-16, as most younger child aren't going to have the same level of exposure, though there is the slim chance), there are going to be problems.

Urgh, the last time I had a blunt my lungs felt like i'd just swallowed nitric acid and a whole vat of fibreglass. It tastes far nicer in the our British fasion (PM's a deviant!)

Depends. If people are drinking beer or coffee for the to get drunk, or to wake up, then they are using alcohol or caffeine. If they happen to be drinking it because it's there, then they aren't. (I can't imagine someone smoking anything for some reason other to get some type of feeling from it.)

hell yeah blunts rule. sadly don't have em often enough over here - cigars are kinda hard to come by (decent ones for making a wrap) and only a few places sell bluntwraps (get em online (http://www.weedcity.com/shop/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=266&strPageHistory=cat) is the answer! (tho i wouldn't recommend the chocolate flavour one, its nasty)).
the last blunt i had was in a rasta coffeeshop in amsterdam back in june on a fantastically hot & sunny day. blunt of just blueberry (after a couple of real nice joints of organge buds) - man that was niiice (ah happy memories) :)

its just how its done over here in the UK and (to my knowledge) the rest of europe.
tho i hear conflicting reports of europeans going over to america and having your crazy pure joints and coughing our guts out; and also of americans coming over here, smoking with tobacco and coughing their guts out too.... i guess its a matter of what you're brought up with & what you're used to

I have like a spliff or two when i go out because ive stopped drinking. Every couple of months me and a couple of friends have a big stone up round my house. Thats always fun til the next morning. However, I wouldnt consider myself a heavy user. I do smoke a lot of fags though.

Tried it about 10 years ago. It was one of the greatest let downs of my life. Got a little dizzy, then got a headache and got hungry. Thats it.

Adrenaline is my drug of choice. Nothing will ever beat it.

Causes me migraines - even from second-hand contact (in quantity). Made working heavy metal concerts a real drag. (no pun intended.)

I grow it, smoke it, eat it, give it to friends as gifts, offer it to guests, fight for it, debate for it, attempt to get legislation concerning it passed, ignore the moronic laws against it, cultivate better and sturdier strains of it, dry it, cure it, and enjoy the ever livin' hell out of it.

Once you get really familiar with the strains and good ways of crossbreeding them to produce the desired new strain, it becomes second nature. But, then, I grew up growing plants and herbs. Marijuana's just another vegetable.

They call us dumb, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that I could go toe to toe with a PhD in the subject of botany and I've never had a class in it.

Weed does seem to negatively affect those experiencing depression, however. So it ain't some kind of miracle drug. Just like everything in life, there are both pros and cons.

I would say that I have found weed to be infinately less destructive than alcohol. I never saw somebody get into a fight or beat their wife and kids because they were stoned.

Most growers in this country aced year 13 horticulture when they were at school (If you were lucky enough to go to a school that offered it, like I was)

been there, done that, got the t-shirt, grew up.

I smoke occasionally, not often enough to really need to learn to roll a joint or buy and smoking utensils... or know how to get some on my own...

But being stoned is nice. Nicer than being drunk, but booze is more accessible and all of my friends drink.

Smoking sure as hell hasn't made me more stupid. Indeed, I've found that in certain areas of my studies it has given me a much needed "other" perspective - for instance, I've found the reading material for my degree course much more accessible and revealing when I can strip away my own bias or simply exclaim "Whoa.... cooool..." at an argument or theory I might have found difficult to fit into a previously obscure paradigm.

And it cured all of my teenage angst. Which was nice.
