My Legos are a bit older than the latest Star Wars stuff. I have a set of Blacktron, a set of space police, and a set of Exploriens that's a bit newer. I also have several pirate sets and a couple of the later ninja sets (still a few years old, though I say new).

i used to play with the stuff when i was small, then stopped at about 12 thinking i was too old for it. then i got a naboo fighter set, and i got into the collecting side of it, rather than the 'weee weee boom wow look at my little spaceship fly' side.

I'm sitting at my computer right infront of a box where I've got some. I'm not sure when I actually stopped, but it was sometime around 10, I guess the time that the internet became an important factor in my life. Occasionally, I'll go back into the pile of bricks just to attempt to construct something. It's fun.

I did when I was little. It was by far my favorite toy. I built a very impressive city with 12 story buildings. I ran out of room on the table, so I built pilons and had three street levels, I used string to suspend planes and spacecraft from the ceiling and had used the leggo lights and motors. I built an amusment park with a spinning ride. I preffered to just get a lot of pieces and didn't really follow the dirrections of the kits, though now and then I would find a cool one that I would build. I don't have any legos anymore, but my parents still have them and if I have kids I will probably give them to them.
Der Drache

Actually I realized something sort of funny. I had friends who had them also ans we would pretend the cities we built were capitals of our countries. I would send diplomats to their countries and they to mine. We would then create crazy laws and things like that. It's not surprizing that I'm now on nationstates is it.

I still have all of the 2nd-hand flee-market-bought lego of my childhood and got some of the new SW stuff.
But it's not that I really collect it in the collector's sense of way. I just have it sit in the attic (or my old room) and that's that.
I do, however, once in a while buy one of those single playmobil figures they put out fairly regularly, but am not really collecting those either.
I get what I like and can affort and then put it up to collect dust on my shelves.

You know, Lego is both singular AND plural... and I remember hearing somewhere that Lego are getting really pissed off at people calling the plastic blocks "Legos". It must be an American thing, because everyone I know in NZ, Australia, and the UK uses "Lego" for both singular and plural use...

I have a HUGE collection of the things, adding up to more than 10,000 pieces, easily. Last count, it was 11,640. (Yes, I counted every single piece. :) ) I also have 208 of those little LEGO people. (technically called minifigures)

I haven't been playing with them very much lately. Many are packed away either in my closet or under the basement steps. A few are on top of my dresser and bookcase, serving as room decoration.

I started working on a webpage about my LEGO collection, but our digital camera is busted, so I can't take any more of the pictures. Here are a few pictures that I have already taken:

"This is Set number #0003, a communications tower. This was built largely using the bag of 500 various all-gray piece that I had bought on eBay. It is used by almost all parts of Lego City, including Lego City Satellite TV and. LCPD and LCFD Police Band radio. The Lego Space Administration uses it to communicate with craft that are currently in orbit."

I like Legos so much I wrote a poem about them
I hope its not too political.

Reflection

One brick on top of the other
Perfection on a caterpillar’s scale
Man, child, realizing himself
Work Engel’s would have hailed.

No world torn by zeros
No übermensch or rising sun
Could tarnish the imagination
Of a child seizing fun.

That known as human nature
Was conquered by this boy.
How can the future not be bright
If Legos are our toys?

Awesome!

I loved the space collection (and I have those underwater ones as well, the entire freagin collection)

Was I the only one who thought the ice-looking space collection that came after the late Space Police had nuclear missles?

I fear LEGOs are losing their intricacy. For instance, the front of a truck (lights, bumper, etc) has been reduced into ONE piece in the newer collections, while in the past it could take ten seperate pieces to create a far more beautiful front.

Also the newer castle collections are nothing compared to the forest-men and other older ones (no idea the name)

The Star-Wars collection maintains the sophistication of the older sets.
New Fenniq

The best lego was the older knight lego, rather than the new, bizarre stuff you get now. Knight's Kingdom? What a load of bollocks! Give me the old Lego knights, with their helmets you could poke spears into, armour you had to take the head off to put on, and horses with bits out of them so you could put the men on. Thoses were the days...

They still make minifig knights, and you gotta take their heads off to put their armour on. Their helmets just kinda suck.

I used to love the stuff.

I was quite proud when I managed to collect the entire 1995 AquaZone range. My LegoTechnic Ramship was a force to be reckoned with (designed so that you could hit it really hard, and it wouldn't break. It was like a rollcage inside). And my piece de la resistance... a working model of the Pharos of Alexandria, stoood shining in our conservatory for about a month. it had an electrics system running up the middle powering the lightbulb at the top.

Ahhh, those were the days.

Now you get Star Wars, NBA, Harry Potter and all that merchendising crap, it's just not the same. What happenned to kids using their imagination.

Ah well, I still have the AquaZone.

Lego was by far my favourite toy when I was a kid. My favourite was the pirate lego, where you could build huge three masted ships with cannons and parrots and the whole nine yards. Yarrgh!

I'm now taking Engineering and in one of my classes we are learning how to represent three dimensional objects in two dimensions. It reminded me of the diagrams that came with the lego sets to tell you how to build them. I caught onto the stuff pretty easily, and I think it was because of all the time I spent playing with lego as a kid.

I LOVE LEGO!!! :)

I'm 22, and I still bust out the Legos every now and then.

I have SO many Castle sets...old-school ones too. The ORIGINAL Kings Knights, the WolfPack, the Dragon Masters, the Royal Knights.

I also had numerous Space Police and Blacktron sets as well.

I liked the pirate ones too, I had a couple of ships and several pirate hideouts, etc.

Most of my sets have been cannibalized over the years for projects of my own design.

I created a series of over 45 different space vehicles for a sci-fi novel which I am currently working on.

I also created a 20x20x20 inch "Borg Cube". I didn't have enough pieces to make it solid, so I created an intricate crossbracing system inside. I dropped it from my second floor window, and only a small piece of one corner actually came off.

I also specialize in WWII aircraft and naval vessels. :)

Man, do I love LEGO! :fluffle:

EDIT: I almost feel sorry for the poor bastard who voted for MegaBlocks....ALMOST.

I used to have more Lego than you could shake a brick at. You could literally take a bath in the pieces. I gave a lot of it to my aunt when she had a son, though. I do still have a lot of it though, including a huge pair of ships. Right up until about 1997 you can guarantee that if Lego made it, I probably had it somewhere.

Lego these days has lost a lot of what made it great before though, in my opinion. It's more like buying a normal toy that just happens to be easier to repair than most if you drop it, rather than buying a construction kit with which you could do whatever you wanted. All this Star Wars and Harry Potter junk is just a cheap rip-off of what Lego should be about.

Oh, and I won't say this a second time: LEGOS ISN'T A WORD! THERE IS ONLY LEGO!

I think Lego is awesome. Generally, I would wake up on Christmas Morning and excitedly see what set would await. I would build it as instructed once, and thereafter start up making my own creations. My Dad always says; "It's a new toy every day", and he would get mad if I left something together for too long. Usually, I used to build my own little spaceships out of the pieces; and the white ships would fight against the black ships, forming various alliances with the gray ships or yellow ships, red ships, or even the scuzzy ones that I built multicoloured (civilian ships). I used to have them on a shelf running along the length of my room, I think it was originally built for someone's decorative plate collection, but then I moved, and now they are in a box (except for my favourite ship). Now I wish I had brought my precious Lego to uni with me...

I love LEGO!

The bulk of my collection is made up of generic brick tubs... I like to have the raw materials...

Most of the sets I've gathered over the years are from the space theme, many of them from the M-Tron (gotta love those magnets!) and BlackTron (I and II) days... I've also got some of the older and newer Space Police...

My earliest set was a white space ship with a large blue trans shield over the cockpit (not a full cockpit shield, though... this one is just a large arch shield)... I don't even remember what set it was, but it predates the M-Tron and BlackTron stuff... I also have a BlackTron I (the yellow shields, not the fluorescent green trans shields) set from that era (it's a thing that walks on two large feet)

These sets, however, are mostly all disassembled, and thrown in the big tub with my other stock parts (and have mostly been assembled into other "MOCs"... I do still have the instructions, though (somewhere), so I could theoretically put them back together...

Most of my custom creations are space themed as well... Ships, bases, robots, mechs, that sort of thing... I have a tub full of "permanent" models of this kind ("permanent" as in "I never take them apart")...

My favorite custom model, though, is my Voltron (http://www.geocities.com/supersaiyangokux/Lego/voltronindex.html)... He's awesome...

Now that I think of it, Lego has been around longer than any president. Perhaps it will outlive all nations. That being a possibility, I suggest we contact the LEGO CEO and give him (or her) a head's up on the upcoming collapses, and hopeful re-establishment of the glorious governments of the past. Can you imagine a Lego driven utopia? I mean let's face it, LEGO has a much better chance of taking over the world than any politician does, and most likely I voted for LEGO over said politician.
With so many followers a LEGO party would be indomitable. LEGO builders of the world unite! We have nothing to lose but crappy imitations, we have a world to build!
