Full Moon

When I was in grade 1 and 2, there was this boy I had a massive crush on. He came to my house once, and when he left, his dad said to my mom "I just wanted to meet my son's future in-laws." He moved away. Yesterday, he came up in conversation. Today, I was at school, and this guy comes up to me and asks if I'm Neaness. I say yes .... it's him. Who I haven't seen in 11 years.

My mom and I went on a trip to the library today. On the way there, she pointed out a guy talking animatedly to thin air. He was talking, there was nobody else around, and he was staring at ... where nothing was.

On the way back, we were on a long, straight stretch and I pointed out a middle-aged woman walking along the sidewalk ... backwards. We watched her for at least 2 minutes, and she was just walking backwards. So I mused about it being a full moon. Turns out it is.

Anyone have any good full moon stories?

No. At least, not in the way astrologers or wannabe-lycanthropes think. I think that because there is some electromagnetic pulls between it and the earth, and the human body produces miniscule amounts of electromagnetic energy, there may be some small effects. I doubt that it's anything to the scale of letting you win the lottery or turning into a beast...

People are allegedly weirder around a full moon, and although I'm not usually too sure of the current moon cycle, there've been a few times I've had strange things happen to me and had it pointed out that it's full moon.

I have an ER doctor and a cop in my family and both of them swear that people get weird on the full moon. I don't know if it true or if people just believe it because everyone says so. I do know that when I was working the 5p to 5a shift on the suicide hotline, we got a lot more psychotic callers on full moons then other times. (and when I say psychotic, I really mean people with delusions not the way most people say psycho and just mean weird) One guy would call every month on the full moon and talk about the man in the moon telling him to kill his dog. Luckily I never had to answer the phone when he called and we knew where he was calling from so we could get him help. why they kept releasing him from the hospital I will never understand. He really needed help.

Maybe he was bipolar and was always in a manic phase during the full moon? ... Y'know, one of these days, I'm going to have to stop this urge to tentatively diagnose anyone acting at all odd. For example, the ones above ... Schizophrenia with visio-auditory hallucinations (important distinction: Schizophrenia =/= sees things or hears voices), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

I think we found out that he had schizo-affective disorder (not sure of the spelling) btw my mom is bipolar and she hardly ever has psychotic episodes(full moon or not) and usually when she does it is when they are switching around her meds (mainly the antipsychotics) in case you wanted to know. Not that I am assuming that you don't know or anything but having a background in helping the mentally ill (and being related to some) I kinda get jumpy when people mix up disorders. lol. :p

Maybe there's some evolutionary reason for our behaviour. The full moon gives people the best visibility of any night. That would also make it the night during which humans were least susceptible to nocturnal predators. So maybe we adapted to behave differently on nights with full moons.

I must remember this in my plan.

Well, where i lived for the past year (near Lake Constance) I always slept terribly during the full moon as did everyone else who had moved near the lake to work. Those people who had lived near the lake all their life were fine...

Nothing psycho or owt...just what happened

I personally do not believe anything about the full moon having some sort of effect on people. Lets face it, crazy people are crazy every night and day.

Apparently there are more reports of crime around the full moon. Or that might just be criminals deciding to commit crimes then, as it's easier to see.

A full moon having an effect on psychotics wouldn't be all that surprising. Mthology about the full moon (and to a lesser extent, the new moon) is prevalent in most cultures. The subconscious would likely pick up on this, and a person's behavior would change accordingly. The effect would likely be most pronounced in psychotics.

Note that I am not a psychologist. I've just picked this idea up from various things I've read.

I'd say yes. At least it does on me. I cannot sleep well and usually have nightmares around that time of the month. Don't ask me why, can't tell, don't know.
And full moon is coming up tomorrow...
Guess how well I could sleep last night - already looking forward to tonight

Yeah, I know for the most part they don't, but my adopted brother's mom has it and she gets them. This has a lot to do with that she won't take her meds, though. Which also has to do with why her son is now my brother.

I do believe that the full moon can affect people, but not only that, it can also affect the potency of certain activities: for example, when casting spells, some require a full moon, some a waxing or waning or new, etc. Scrying also is more effective during full moon periods.

I believe that the moon has certain affects on the spiritual world as well.

But you do wanna try to avoid saying "cock ring" and the "lanced" in the same sentence.

Unless you like making people cringe or curl their toes when they read the post.

True, so true.

And yes, you're welcome. I've seen his work around the net and elsewhere and always appreciated it very much.
