He was actually in Australia, doing his activist thingy then the Pro-Bush Australian government decided to kick him out. If he was a threat, they should not let him into Australia in the first place.

In Australia, we have red dusty ashphalt roads! ;)

I heard about Brash and his Howard-ian style. Hopefully the Maoris will torpedo his plans.

Maori traditionally support labour, but since the seabed and foreshore issue, many have shifted their support to the newly formed Maori party who probably wont go into coalition with anyone.

As it stands, this election is too close to call. Niether of the main parties will be able to form a govt without help though, and Brash has very nearly run out of friends. The next govt could ride on the ACT party winning the seat in Epsom or not, as they are pretty much Nationals only real option left.

A huge amount can happen in the next 24 hours. It's going to be a big one...

The Indonesia gov't also claimed people like Alan Nairn and Amy Goodman (oh, and probably that film Australian? too)
were "threats to national security" when they were reporting
from inside illegally occupied East Timor (just north of Australia).

So, given that's the line that fascist gov'ts use (in the case of Indonesia)
when people are trying to report on what is going on,

would any gov't that ejects someone with that "reason"
be considered fascist?

(p.s. I did not see your Bali reference and do not know if you
are from Indonesia or not. This post was not personal)

Yeah, it sucks doesn't it? Australia is becoming crappier every week. When our government pulls this kind of crap, I feel ashamed to live here.

At least I can be proud that I didn't vote for the current regime. But if we stay on the path we're on, in twenty years or so, that'll be enough to have me locked up.

Hey, at least Bush isn't your furher.
uh, sorry all....

just last night Bush talked about N.O.

and he mentioned something about the military being
the only institution capable of quick responses.
.....
things are getting creepier all the time.
in the last 4 years the gov't also developed
a military command for north america.
What the heck does that mean?!?
the US already had regional commands for all other
parts of the world. Southern Command for overseaing interventions
in South America....

are we looking at full scale military gov't in future years?

....
a marine called into WPR during the hour George Galloway
was on. the marine warned about the increasing militarization
of the US. yikes... :(

Hah! With the Howard-run coalition government in power here at the moment, Bush is our fuhrer every bit as much as he is yours.

I'm sick of my country being the bitch to whatever world power we can attach ourselves to. I wish my state would secede from the federation. Maybe NZ would have us.

Edit: ASIO will probably be breaking my door down on Monday and detaining me for sedition for saying that. It'll have to be Monday, though, the slack bastards don't work on weekends.
