The Texas Pledge: stupidity

I live in Texas, and some time ago, the legislature (A bunch of complete morons) passed a bill making it legal to say the Texas pledge which goes like this:
Honor the Texas flag
I pledge allegiance to thee
Texas one and indivisible
Every day people say this crap, except for me, I'm an American, not a Texan. I am the only one I know that pledges to my country and not to my state. However, I go to a wealthy yet quite ignorant school, so everyone around me does this. Despite all that, Texas is actually divisible into five states! Not only do they make us do a stupid redneck thing, they make us lie to ourselves every single day! I just think this is stupid and I can't believe our legislature actually took the time to work this into their plans... How stupid.

...Yeah...I can see why Bush turned out the way he did now...Well, I don't think Texas has that strong of an economy on it's own though...

Hey! Our economy was great in 1997! Then it pulled an Enron.

Yeah, I also live in Texas. Whenever I have to pledge to America I stand proud and say the pledge but when the Texas pledge comes on I sit down and sometimes even say "screw Texas". Texas is only a state, it is a part of the US which we actually do owe our allegiance to and there will be no circumstance where loyalty to Texas will be justifiable considering that Texas is just part of this great USA.

Texas was once its own country. Save for some document made directly following the Civil War, it still could be. I think it's natural for a true Texan to have some pride in his or her state.

Nothing wrong with pride...Just don't bloat yourself with your own ego...Since you live in Texas, wouldn't you be naturally loyal to it? I mean it is your home state if you have to resort to a pledge to make all the residences loyal then that's just messed up...

Texas one and Indivisible
But that's not true! Texas is the only state in the Union that has the permission of Congress to divide itself up into five separate states!
Edit: I didn't read the entire OPs post before I posted, so he beat me to it...

I know! I already stated that and I think it's hilarious!

Wasn't Bush born and raisedin Conneticut? Someone told me he just pretends to be Texan after moving there.

I grew up in Texas, too. (I wasn't born there) I consider my 20 years in TX, NC, and VA to be exile in the CSA. I'm glad to be gone! Honestly, I think it's that whole southern "states rights" stuff that led to pledges like that. It's kind of ironic that now the most blindly nationalistic people live in the south. BTW, I always hated the Texas pledge, too. I never said if I could get away with it.
