Should I...?

I was thinking…
One of my friends has been addicted to Warquest recently…and at first I was mad. But he said to me that games were more fun than real life.
Come to think of it, they are. They provide a substitute for real life.
If he’s really happy there, then what right do I have to drag him out of his happiness into this world of ours filled with disappointments and nightmares?

As long as he keeps taking care of himself and enjoys some social interaction from time to time, it's ok. He'll probably reach his saturation point some time and start doing something else.

Basically, we all escape the Real World (TM) one way or another: watching TV, reading books, going to the movies, etc.

some things are better left unknown...

as fore your frend... I can disagree. there are things that you can do in the real world that they will never be able to tern into a vidio game and keep all the good stuff! for example, paintball! they have made many paintball vidio games but all of them lack something... they lack the fear, the adrenalin, the pain... there are many things in life that just can't be met with currint vidio game tech. a saturation point is hard to reach with MMORPGs. and people have killed themselves becouse there data was erased in those games befor, they knew there guy couldn't come back, so they didn't feel that life was worth living.

(is warquest a good one? or did you just mix World of Warcraft and everquest?)

Escapism is fine, but it is no substitute for the real world.

I could have mixed the two...that sounds like me...

But I haven't heard of anyone killing themselves. Except that one guy on everquest, but that wasn't what everyone thought.
He killed himself because his online lover refused to talk to him. Not because his player data was erased or, what 20/20 reported, that his player character had died.

I love videogames, and stuff like that just really P***es me off.

I was going to say Diaper Biscuit, but I couldn't remember how to spell biscuit. (it's a reference to Homestarruner.com)

Nothing wrong with escaping.

The real world is horrible and can be much more frightening than any game.

As long as he is not escaping from being alive, washing occasionally, and doing whatever is necessary to keep bread on the table...

He doesn't do crap. Not even a job, which I would expect him to have since he always complains about money...but then again, he's only 17

His parents should kick him out onto the street, for his own sake. The house is a bubble for him and he needs to get out. If he's forced into the real then there is hope. Everything is good in moderation, but nothing is good in large doses. He can be happy in real life it is possible. If you are his friend show him what you enjoy in life.

Thats alright.

I got a friend who's 31, not married, probably never had sex, and he's happy playing games all day still living at his parent's home. Oh yeah, he works a crappy job part time here and then to pay for the rent and food.

Now thats scary. But I guess it's disillusionment. He's one of those who thinks life sucks, and eventually never do a damn thing to make it better. I'm not surprised why his life sucks.

Simply, You make your own life and what becomes of it.

Blow up the computer, throw the game out the window, and take him around the town. He'll thank you at a later age, trust me.

Hey, I'm a hacker, I value computers too much to destroy them in such a barbaric way.

Oh, well thats all right then. I mean, you're a loser if losing Ogthar the Ogre/Dragon Level 47 Pancake Flipper makes you kill yourself.
However, if Star TwinkleShine the Dark Elf Sorceress refuses to speak to you, well then I'd have to agree that there is no longer any point in going on.
