Who here loves stargate? I'm a total stargate freak! Well, my country is partially developed around stargate...

I've never seen the movie, but I've been addicted to the series since they started it from the first episode on Space (our version of the sci-fi channel) up here in Canada. It's on right now.

2, actually. One named "Stargate" and the other named "Stargate SG-1". Stargate is the original, and begins just after the stargate is found. It chronicals the assembly of the team and their first mission.

I still don't get it. Some episodes are kind of interesting, but the series itself has failed to catch me.
The premise is interesting, though.

One of the few shows I regularly watch and stick with, I adore the realm of Stargate. I'm a huge SG fan, m'self.

This is one of the few cases where I think that, while the original movie was decent, the series is far better.

You just got a bunch more cool points from me, Kat. A gamer and a fan of StarGate (as well as being wise enough to realize the movie was just good).
A friend of mine has been on the set a few times, met RDA briefly. Lucky bastard.
I gotta say the series is much better than the movie.
Having said that, Stargate is awesome! Thank god for my friends who got me into it.
Right...now I think I'll leave before any of you start discussing things post season 5....

I think its amazing how they manage to create good tv series out of mediocre movies. First Buffy, then Stargate.

There's absolutely no way that Buffy is possibly worthy of being compared to Stargate in terms of greatnes. Horrid, horrid show.

Buffy has better quotes, better actors and better character development than StarGate. StarGate on the other hand has more interesting species, storyline ideas and better special effects.
Though the "better" in these cases should only be considered relative.

I watch it just cause I hope something would happen between Carter and O'Neill. Nothing ever does though.

Yup, in other words its targeted at a different demographic. The Buffy demographic will find Buffy much more entertaining than Stargate and vice versa.

Same here.....I'm just about read to give it another shot though. Out here the only way I can watch it is to buy the whole series, cheap. I guess I'll do that when I finish with the series I'm watching now.

Ah yes, but Buffy had Sarah Michelle Gellar...
*Drools*
But anyway, yes I am a huge fan of SG1, though I found the movie passable -nothing to write home about. The main thing I love about SG-1 is the deadpan humour it has, so often taking the mickey out of itself.

I always find it amazing how all the people and aliens they meet always seem to be able to speak English. Without having a universal translator.
