French speakers needed.

I'm trying to write:

Of course! Without a federal army we were powerless against the French invasion!

Damn those Articles of Confederation! This Congress is adjourned!

I'd rather not put my trust into a free translator, so if you're a French speaker/writer and have the time to translate those sentences into French for me, I'd appreciate it.

It would be, if you "used to be damned". And "damnes", not "condamnes", and some others. Didn't have time to check the exact text you needed translated, I just did my best to correct the one already posted.

Another form, which gets closer to what you mean, is:
"Sans d'armée fédérale nous avions etés impuissants". (I think that's the way: I'm beginning to feel unsure about the spelling).

My attempt... you had to include two nontranslatable phrases, didn't you...

"Of course! Without a federal army we were powerless against the French invasion!

Damn those Articles of Confederation! This Congress is adjourned!"

Sentence 1 in order from best to worst I think (end punctuation either ! or , then the next sentence: Bien sûr! Evidemment, Naturellement! Certainement, Certes,

Sentence 2: Sans d'armée fédéral, nous étions impuissant contre l'invasion Francaise!

Sentence 3: (translating english cursing to french is less than easy...) Zut alors! Ces foutu Articles de Confédération! Ce congrès est terminé!

so:

Bien sûr! Sans d'armée fédéral, nous étions impuissant contre l'invasion Francaise!

Zut alors! Ces foutu Articles de Confédération! Ce congrès est terminé!

changing the meaning to

"Certainly! Without a federal army, we were in the past powerless against the French invasion!

Crap! Those damn Articles of Confederation! This congress is ended!

EDIT:

EDIT 2: Fixed some stupid adjective/noun agreement and now I'm not so sure whether e/tions is better or not....

EDIT 3: added "were in the past" for "were" in my antitranslation to show where my confusion is.

Alright buddy, I can't read what you are saying nor do I care, what I do know is that it's really stupid to go around teaching people French. It's true that French was once the language of high class people and diplomats, but that was a long time ago. It's not like French has a booming economy with lots of exports, that would be Germany, therefore making Germany a much more important language to learn.

As a side note, I've never EVER seen a country more willing to defend their language more than their actual country or citizens! :D :D :) :p

The importance of learning French is the same as the importance of learning English: it is a world language, courtesy of France's long-lost world empire. You can speak it in France, Switzerland, northern Itally, about half of Africa, about half of the West Indies, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

Well...To put it nicley, those countries don't exacrly contribute too much to the world...

And I didn't mean to say "I don't care what you have to say" it just irritates me when people post things in another language when they are perfectly capable of typing in English. But then again I sound pretty selfish and self centered so I'm not one to judge what language you post in.

I speak French when it is reasonable to assume that the people reading my post will also speak it, because I am a student of the language and practicing speaking on a message board is far more fun than writing essays.

Incidentally, is Canada's worldwise monopoly on nickle contributing nothing to the world? And are you done suggesting that we teach "Swiss" because it is such a valuable country, then changing your mind and saying that Switzerland has nothing of value to offer the world?

Oh no! A yank's remark on how half the world doesn't matter just made me realize how utterly useless my language is...After all, it's spoken only by less than 300.000 people... Some would say this particular yank is just an ignorant jerk who doesn't like to travel, after all, he most likely doesn't speak six languages like you do.
To those people I say: NO! Wait, he's got a point. Look at you all purchasing bus-tickets and buying groceries using your silly native language! It's absolutely silly! Literature is pointless! You haven't contributed anything and therefore you've no right to speak a language he doesn't understand! Be gentle and understanding, speak english at home, to your parents, to your grandparents, when you buy precious gasoline...etc.
