Recently I have thought to my self " Thomas, this world seems pretty bad. Do you suppose its comming to an end?" and I replied "No we don't have the anti christ yet" But thats when it hit me.... Doesn't the antichrist have to be like, popular? Even if we ignore the opportunity for easy jokes at Bush's expense and the fact that he's polling in the low 40s at the momnt, I don't think any president of the United States is likely to meet the criteria for an antichrist any time soon. After all, the antichrist is supposed to be someone who leads the world astray with his charm and charisma, and I don't think any US president in the modern world is gonna have a chance of hell of being internationally popular. It's a given that if you run a large, powerful nation, there are going to be entire countries full of people who think you suck.

Nah. American protestant fundies who live in fear of the United Nations taking over the world might expect an EU leader to be the antichrist, but I can't see such a hypothetical person making the grade. Even in Europe half the people would hate him (it's impossible not to have half your constituents hate you when you'r president of something) and the rest of the world would be all kinds of suspicious and/or hostile because they don't want him to get too much influence on the world stage.

Bush II is not the Anti-Christ, he's just an asshat. If, by some longshot, Christianity isn't full of shit and the Anti-Christ is real, s/he would probably never even come into consideration when discussing the identity of said destroyer.

Probably a moot point here, but pretending for a second that the Bible is the word of god, then there is still no such individual as the anti christ. The single Anti christ figure was invented some time after the founding of christianity (I forget the details but I'll give a link later if you really want it) and is a misinterpretation of the book of Revalations which actually says there are many anti christs, and all are people who lead others away from the truth as the Bible sees it. Even if the Bible has it right there is no Damien who is comming to rule the world ect.

As for Bush he's not even the worst world leader of the current time, let alone the ultimate evil sent to destroy man kind.

It's sorta said to stipulate on the end of the world, because we don't know when it's gonna come only God does...It's more important not to live in fear and wait for the end, but to live your life in a just an moralic way, rather than try to pick out who is the anti-christ(that's just pathetic and paranoia) So like St. Paul warned all the churches of the Mediterrean his meassage holds true to today. He calls out those who are hiding and waiting for Jesus, and tells them to live there lives...but live them just and in the way of the cross.

Well, actually, as one who's taken several New Testament classes, the only thing that I can see making sense from him/her was the fact that the antichrist will have be favored by many. There's nothing said about him being young or old. Whether or not the Rapture should come before the "tribulation" is highly disputed.

And now devout Christians are swallowing it like it was gospel. They rush to the bookstore to pick up the newest Left Behind book feeling righteous, but acting heretical.

Look not just in Revelation but look in the whole New Testament. Then check the old. In neither testament will you find the rapture. But rather you will find Christ prophecying that in the end times false preachers and false teachers will come and say to the people "behold he comes in the secret place". Jesus said that when people start to preach that Christ will come in secret, believe them not. For as the lightening flashes from the east to the west and everyone sees it, so shall be the coming of the son of man. Every man, woman, and child alive at the time, will see Christ, at the head of the armies of heaven, coming down upon a cloud of great glory to establish God's rule on earth and vanquish the wicked. And the wicked will mourn and nash their teeth cause they will know their time has expired.
Be not surprised that many call themselves christians have been decieved by the heresy of the "secret rapture" for it is written in the New Testament that Satan and the false preachers will have great power to decieve many. Even the very elect of God if they open themselves up to it.
Be vigilant that you not fall for the deceptions. Put on the armor of God. Test every spirit that comes up to you. If a man claims to be preaching the word of God test his words against what is in scripture. You will know the messengers of God by their fruit. just to be sure, what are you defining rapture as? what do you think it means?

well, if President Bush is the start of the end times, then all those people saying they want proof of God better keep their eyes peeled. of course, by the time they realize that they are seeing God, chances are, they're too late. :(

This refers to the rise of the United States of America as the sole world Superpower. The two horns represent the two most important freedoms enshrined by the Constitution of the United States. The dragon speech is the US imposing its will on the world. This is a prophecy that a President will come and use US military force to coerce other nations into doing his bidding.

Since its rise to power, the US has crippled other nations with economic sanctions for violating its will.

The mistakes of Clinton and Bush are to prepare the way for anti christ. That the final battle between good and evil may come and the millinium of world peace may be ushered in.

The 144,000 that is mentioned in revelation are people who died without ever having sexual intercourse.

This scripture refers to the fact that the message of God will be preached throughout the world via sattalite. In the 90's this prophecy came to fullfillment as missionaries took the message of Christ to every corner of the world for the first time in world history, including Antartica. Places where the word could not be preached opened up to it. First Russia, then the darkest and most unreachable places in the third world started to recieve the gospel of Jesus Christ. The foremost of the global spreaders of the gospel was group called TBN. They and other christian groups took the word of God where it had not been before. Places where missionaries in the previous centuries were unable to go. Including North Korea and China.

Revalation 14:9-11And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

The groups who began to spread the gospel of christ via satellite also began to warn of the second coming and that the judgement of God was near at hand. Wanring all who would listen to prepare themselves for the final battle of all time. In the 90's there was global surge of books on bible prophecy so great that nothing like it had ever occured before. Great crusades were held such as the Harvest Crusades held by evangelist Greg Laurie.

Those who are the true christians keep the commandments of christ and the faith of Jesus.

There were seven building that made up the World Trade Center.

This is a reference to the World Trade Center which truely was the center of the world's economy. Causing many to become drunk with wealth and riches. Causing many to betray the most basic of moral values for the sake of pursuing money.

On September the 11, 2001 this prophecy came to fullfillment when the WTC fell in just one hour as predicted. And the nations of the earth mourned for it.

During the fall babylon is when the 6 leaders will be alive.

Back to Revelation 17
beginning with verse 10
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
At this time 5 former presidents were around and kicking. And there was one president. The 5 former presidents were Carter, Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr. and Clinton. The one who is was George W. Bush. The seventh is the one who is yet to come. He is the President who will follow Bush Jr. But his reign as President will not last for long.
For the 8th will come. Let him who has wisdom know the mystery. The 8th shall be related to one of the previous 7. The 8th president shall be the anti christ.

The antichrist is someone who has a connection to one of the former seven administrations. He will either be a dem or a rep.

As an addendum:

Since its rise to power, the US has crippled other nations with economic sanctions for violating its will.
Though most people believe the mark is an implanted chip that will be placed under the skin of the arm, the mark of the beast is actually a belief system. It is a final rejection of God's law. Those who get it, will be know something is wrong but they will relish doing it anyway. It is a way of thinking. When it says "in their foreheads" it means that the mark will be in their heads. Inside their brains.
The mark in the right hand is reference to continued bad behavior. They will know what is right but will not do it. They will know what is wrong but they will do it.
Here is wisdom for those who with understanding.
Those who get the mark of the beast will be those who sacrifice all that is right, just to make themselves rich or famous or to get power. They will reject all that is holy and pure and sacred. Behold, the mark of the beast is already in place in the world today.

I guess that's where we differ. I take on more of a optimistic attitude on humanity. Also, I'd suppose most people need to believe in Christ to believe in the Christian apocalypse, which I don't.
