The PS3 has just won me over.

It looks like this is finally a direct sequal to MGS2. As for the gray hair, well he was already starting to age by MGS2.

My money is on Old Solid Snake. Funnily enough, if you give him an officers cap, I can imagine him playing the old tough as nuts army sarge image.

That game is going to have to be spit-shined like you wouldn't believe. If I don't get reviews that equal or exceed Halo 1's ratings, Bungie's lost a fan.

I pray they don't bring back Raiden. He ruined MGS2.

I heard that Kojima said that Big Boss was going to get more depth in this one, and I recall Solidus losing his left eye in MGS2. It lookied like he died in the end, but then, we all thought Liquid died at the end of MGS1...

Are the pictures concept art or ingame/cgi? Either way, it isn't impressive, for what I've seen on the next gen's.

These definitely are not concept art. I'm betting ingame since Kojima has always used ingame graphics for trailers and major cinematics.

Oddly enough, very few people actually felt that.

If anything, most people I've encountered feel that Rose ruined the game.

And that very vocal minority who despised Raiden, well... it's been suggested time and time again that they largely have their own issues to deal with.


As an aside, I'm steadfastly refusing to look up any information on MGS4 prior to my purchase of the game. For MGS2, I think I saw two commercials a total of six times, and never once had a negative reaction to the game.

Well, except near the end where I thought somebody had secretly dosed me with LSD....

exaggerations - i've had it thouroughly explained to me, at great (and very boring) length that they are practically the same in terms of hardware power (dispite what the Sony PR says). practically the same in that the PS3 is slightly (say, 10%) more powerful than the x360, but the PS3 is also gonna be hell to code for due to its unique and weird architecture.
plus the x360 has all sorts of harware add-ons that save developers time and effort, not to mention it supports directX directly... the upsot of which is coding for the PS3 = hard, coding for x360 = easy as pie (especially for PC game developers), meaning the small extra power of the '3 may not be realised until the last generation of games on the console... so they're gonna be pretty much equal for the most part

its just digital artwork, those arn't actual graphics. It could look differant in every way.

That's not all that impressive. It doesn't look much superior to what is out on the PC now.

Raiden is going to be returning, with apparently a new look. His character artwork is on Konami's MGS4 website

Though I don't think all, or even most, MS games have been terrible. They have produced a number of classics in the past. (Close Combat, Age of Empires, for example)

Sorry Ryanania, but I'd have to disagree with you on this one. Hideo Kojima hasn't played "touch up" with any of his MGS games yet in regards to their trailers. Maybe different scenes than what comes out in the game, but everything has been done with in-game engines so far as I know.

I'm confuzzled. Over at IGN.com you can see the concept art of the characters which shows Solid Snake with a full, Jim Morrison beard. And secondly, Solid Snake never lost any eyes, that was Big Boss (right eye) and Solidious (left) but we see that Solidious has perished at the end. Can anyone verify the authenticity of these? I have a gut feeling that these are either fake or Hideo being really freaky and giving an amalgam character of Solidious, Solid Snake, and Big Boss (?). Anywho, that moustache is pretty stupid looking.
