Hello and welcome to the first NS Soapbox.

It seems that everyone has an opinion and we get a zillion threads on the same topic, so, let's have some fun with that.

These are the rules of the game:

In other words, keep this clean and follow the core NS rules and everyone will be happy.

Now, this is how it'll work...

For this edition, I'll give you a topic and the idea is NOT to debate (how about that?) but to just rant! Yes, I want people to be self-righteous and rant about the topic I propose. I don't care if you're frothing at the mouth, orif you swear, just no breaking the core NS rules when you rant.

I will of course rant as well.

Now, the first rant topic is...:

Teachers. What really irks you about your teachers? What have they done that really defies all rules of common sense? And of course...why?

<insert rant on teachers, and how many quite trying once they have job stability, or tenure, especially at the higher ed level>

It's shiney because it's new!

Now... I've had some bad teachers, but the worst kind for me are those who come in and sit down, and tell you that you're going to learn just by reading. They do not intend to do anything, and you have to teach yourself the material. That's just annoying. After all, at the post-secondary level, you pay good money to learn and unless the material is directed toward self-study, the prof ought to lecture.
