Sick!!!

Is anyone else aware that in Germany, former SS workers are entitled to better pension plans than gay holocaust survivors who weren't compensated after the allied victory in WW2 but instead re-imprisoned. Gay holocaust victims still haven't been given a formal apology by the German government or the European Union. What kind of twisted morality is this? The thought of it makes me physically sick.

What would the European Union have to apologise for?

Good for the victims, now find something that makes sense.

It has befallen politicians on many occasions to apologise on behalf of their nation, particularly when it hasn't compensated the victims of a crime against humanity but lets the perpetrators live in freedom.

what , exactly, does sorry do for a person? if the guy who hits me in a drunken driving accident comes back and says "i am sorry for destroying your face, and killing your husband, leaving you disfigured and unable to work or get a new SUV FOREVER" , does that make it all better? i think not.
does that get my horribly scarred self another hubby? no. does it buy me a new suburban? no. does it get me my job back at the modelling agency? nope.

Pensions and morality have little to do with each other. People who worked for the government are entitled to pensions according to the status they had and years they worked, regardless of their background.

oh yes they have. trust me, i'm german, i'm gay, and i have been at one of the numerous memorial sites where apoloies are even set in stone, nearly all of them specifically including homosexuals as well.

beware of generalizations on the ground of individual cases with varying backgrounds

the compensation issue is still a hot topic and amendmends are still made to the policies and new compensations paid to victims still unrecognized. i highly doubt that homosexuals do not receive compensations in general today, although i know that they were left out at the first round of compensations given out. but that should be changed by now, i'm rather sure.

about the imprisonment: i've not heard about massive re-imprioning of gays after the liberation of the concentration camps and i'd think i'd have heard about it if it were true.
but i know that until late sixties, (male) homosexuality was a crime in (western) germany under decree 148. please consider the worldwide context and bear in mind that this si still he case in amny US states today.

p.s. i'd very much love you to adhere to the rule of posting your surces whenever making claims like this.

What else could a person do?
Of course nothing can make up for something like that, but I believe that if a person is sincery sorry for what he/she has done, and says so, I believe that is the best you could ask for (perhaps monetary compensation should be "included in the apology", too). It must be better than no apology?

you should try taking SARCASM 101. because obviously, you failed at HUMOR GENERAL. i dont even like cookies.
and, really, i was asking a certified question. "what would the sorry do for those that are asking for it?". he didnt answer, so i thought i would repeat my question, without looking repetetive.

oh yes i actually did fail general humor so i think i oughta retake that first before trying anything as specific as sarcasm.

as to your question (if i got it right, which i' not sure about) : "sorry" doesn't "do" anything. it doesn't help you loads. but then, there are situations where you (as the offender) can't do anything. assuming for a minute that i was that guy you talked about - what would there be for me to do? whatever i did, it wouldn't make the face/body become its original state, e.g. maybe "sorry" is a way of saying that if you could undo what you did, you would. sometimes you can do no more than that, cuz undoing things isn't possible too often.
