I'd be excited, but.. what exactly are the system requirements for all these games? I probably don't want to know.. :(

Ditto. I'll be excited once i update my computer. right now my comp throws a hissy-fit when i try to run humble old AOM. Although AOE 3 looks VERY impressive from what i've seen.

AoE is still using the same mechanics as the first game. Squad-based games are far better, otherwise you can just spam one type of unit. (Longbowmen anyone?)

It looks good but i've noticed that these games seem to lose their longevity, i played Age of Empires 1 for bout 2 years, Age of Empries 2 for 1 year, Age of Mythology for a couple of months... not sure if i'll go for Age of Empires 3, i don't see how it will be any different from other strategy games out there.

Inform me?
I never thought it would happen.
Is it set in the 30 Years war era?
1630's ish?

I never fininshed any of them.
Turns out i dont like units i spent so much of my resources on dieing. :p
I've played the demo for AoE 3, and it is quite fun. The Home City and experience approach is a nice touch, as is the inclusion of a main character/adventurer along the lines of Age of Mythology. At its core, though, it's the same mechanics as the other ages. Which is probably a good thing; those games were fun too. ^^

I wouldn't say exicited since when released it will be far out of my budget.
But I got the demo and it seems pretty cool.

It is a wierd take on the colonisation of America (I say weird because I have heard that countries such as The Ottoman Empire are playable factions in it)

Age of Empires has always been screwy that way. In AoE 2, you could have the Huns fight the Aztecs if you had the Expansion Pack.

I like SWGB
Meh, I'm looking forward to the new Stainless Steel Studios game. I've forgotten the name, but it looks way better than AoE III.
Not graphics-wise, but gameplay-wise. It's truly epic (tens of thousands of units), whereas AoE III is still basically the same formula the original AoE was (small forces combat).

japan is playable?! didn't know that. i wish they made it cover all of imperialism though, then we could have played as tibetans and chinese...(and possibly late khmer, but that'd be a very small possibly)
I used to follow new games, but with all of the utter crap thrown our way, I feel nothing nowadays. You can only gather so many resources, fill so many people with lead, level so many characters, before nothing is worth getting excited about anymore. Innovation was thrown out a long time ago because it wasn't worth the financial risks involved.

Really so it would be like a game that came out last year based around the Americas.
Honest to god i want to see one based around the 30 years war so many agendas and different nations involved.

Exactly what im talking about pitched battles of tens of thousands of men and horses.
My computer is so crappy i made a battle of 5000 units each and it was crawling. :(
