Korean Socialism Praised by Egyptian Figure

Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- While staying in the DPRK, I had opportunities to see for myself great successes made by the DPRK under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il. Yehia Zakaria Khairallah, secretary general of the Arab Association for Arts, Culture and Information of Egypt, said this at a meeting held in Cairo on Sept. 6 to hear his report about his visit to the DPRK to attend the Meeting Dedicated to the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu and the World Conference for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea.

Giving his impressions of various functions he attended, he noted that he had the honor of being seated near Kim Jong Il when appreciating the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang," "Kim Il Sung Prize" laureate. Kim Jong Il is deeply respected and trusted not only by the Korean people but by the world progressive people, he said, and continued:

Miraculous successes have been achieved in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation in the DPRK under his wise leadership in recent years. Thanks to the Songun politics pursued by him the military capability of the DPRK and its overall national power have grown stronger than ever before. The U.S. styling itself "the world's only superpower" dares not provoke the DPRK. Korean socialism will be ever-victorious as long as it is led by the great His Excellency Kim Jong Il.

I will work hard to disseminate the Juche idea and boost the friendly relations with the DPRK.

I fell out of my seat reading this! And now I have Diet Dr. Pepper all over my floor!

Thanks alot, you Commie Bastards :p .

I suppose nations that the US is mad at just seem to band together, don't they.

Well, he was an important figure, and got treated well for diplomatic benefits. You can be certain he didn't see any of the gulags or starving children, or murdered dissidents, or devastated farmland, or the decayed health system....

Funny he talks that way. Why don't we cut off our military assistance completely to Egypt?

"Kim Jong Il is deeply respected and trusted not only by the Korean people but by the world progressive people"

He forgot something.. the people are starving to death and they are forced to respect Kim Jong Il. Who knows what happens to them if they don't.. I heard about these mines in the north of the country where they use mass slave labor.

He also forgot to mention the DPRK uses like 65-*80% of its GDP for military. 1 in 15 people are in the military in the DPRK from what I heard.. compared to like 1 in 1000 here in the US.

Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The plan of geological prospecting for 2004 was carried out at 100.1 percent in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Prospecting teams surveyed deposits of coal and iron ore and found out mineral ores such as K, P and Si in the western area of the country.

I'm eagerly waiting for them to announce that the chocolate ration has been increased. Oh, and here's another classic:

The state budgetary revenue for this year will increase 15.1 per cent over the previous year. The new state budget envisages a 13.5 per cent rise in revenue from the profits of the state enterprises, the main source of budgetary revenue, and an 8.4 per cent increase in revenue from profits of the cooperatives and a 3 per cent growth in revenue from social insurance over the previous year.

Wow, I wish we could have that kind of revenue growth from the Postal Service...even private US corporations don't grow profit by 13.5% on average! That economy must be roaring.

Well in some countries they think if you print out more money it'll help the economy grow... Funny... at the end, it is probably good enough to wipe your rear end with it.

2.2 North Korean won to the Dollar; in reality, it's at least 600. They have no gold, and $12 billion in debt.

At least it solves the toilet paper shortages.

Even try some hard boiled eel...

SO? I say we cut off the military assistance if Mubarak cannot keep his officials under control.

Some countries? Try all countries.

That explains low inflation... not. Please understand what you are talking about first. You need to understand what printing money does... it floods the market with money shooting up inflation. I've lived in the situation where the government went out of control printing money... in Ecuador... the currency went from 10,000 to 1 dollar when I was there.. to nearly 45,000.

I'm not even certain the Arab Association for Arts, Culture and Information of Egypt is part of the Egyptian government. But he is a very important figure in something in Egypt. The NKorean press release made it clear that he is that, just not what that somethig is. If it is part of the government it should be taken with the same seriousness as a statement by any government official whose heads an office which not only doesn't rate a website but also isn't important enough for a fax.

Well you are correct about that. I'll look into it if it is part of the government or not. It probably isn't. Next time I have a closer look.

But hey, that North Korean "news" website is hilarious... japanese soldiers are disguising themselves as US soldiers... anybody see that article?

Most of we communists in the west (I am one) see the DPRK as a brutal fascist hellhole. We are not intrinsically anti-democratic, and we are not supporters of Stalinism.

The belief that adding money to an economy makes it better is widespread throughout the world. In the US, it's largely thought that the money supply needs to be inflated, but that it can't be too inflated too quickly. We'll probably see that sort of hyperinflation in the US within 20 years. It will probably be worse than the Great Depression.

How sad I am made to see such brain-washed ignorance! General Kim Jong Il is a rare great man of Baekdu type who was born at Mt. Baekdu, the sacred mountain of our nation, and made an unusual growth amidst the special revolutionary education of his parents, brilliant commanders of Baekdu, as well as the practical training of the revolutionary struggle. He personifies the revolutionary spirit, trait and nature of Mt. Baekdu. The revolutionary spirit of Mt. Baekdu personified by him is the spirit of independence associated with the soul of Baekdu, the spirit of gun inheriting the linage of Baekdu, the indefatigable revolutionary spirit replete with the mettle of Baekdu, and the optimistic spirit consistent with cheerfulness of Baekdu. The revolutionary trait of Mt. Baekdu possessed by him is pluck and courage of Baekdu-style giant, ever-victorious sagacity of the brilliant commander of Baekdu, broad-mindedness befitting a heroic man, organizing ability of leading millions of people, indefatigable attacking spirit, strong ability of execution.

But seriously, I watched a Discovery Times special which featured cannibalism, really stunted 12-yr olds, and an interview with a former prison guard who escaped. I didn't know that your average gardening kit could be used in that way.

Note I said most, though. I know there are wackos out there.
