Itchy Shot

I got the smallpox vaccine on Friday. And today the spot where they put it itches.

Did you know they don't use a needle to give it to you? They use a little knife and they jab into your flesh (after they dip into this big bottle of live smallpox). That was a weird sensation. I could feel her sticking the knife in and then feeling the grinding as she pushed it in further. The grinding part is not a very comforting sensation.

Other than that, it really is not that bad.

The girl that did looked like she 17 or 18.

For those that want a quick overview of the smallpox vaccine, the CDC has a good page (http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/smallpox/vaccination/facts.asp).

You want trippy? Try morphine intravenously, provided you don't pass out. About smallpox, I contracted that as a young child.

I might have had it but since it was over ten years ago I had to get the vaccine. I know I was vaccinated as a wee child. Sometime in the 70's to early 80's.

I removed the bandage to see why it was itching and saw what they said you are supposed to have on day 4. It looks like its already advancing to day 7 though. But I put the bandage back on.
