Pretty impressed with the colts, but theyd have to play a good team first to see if they are the real deal...their O seems to have gotten a bit weaker with the loss of 2 guys, but even weaker their O is still better then average. and their D has improved from pathetic to crappy. so who knows =P

I've always wondered how that might work, if the Super Bowl hosting team made it to the big game. That would be such an incredible advantage.

It is statistically impossible for the Pats to win 3 in a row.

Also, with former AFC favorites the Jets and Denver falling meteorically, and AFC "woot woot" men the Chargers stumbling, the statistical chances of the Jags getting to the playoffs went way up.

How is it statistically impossible? I can understand improbable, and almost impossible, but there is clearly SOME chance that they will win again.

-20% because of one lost defensive co-ordinator.

-20% because the Patriots defence has only gotten worse over the offseason.

Who cares about odds? Law of averages, so what? I have one thing to say: RED SOX! After what they did winning a 3rd championship in a row is nothing if the Pats want it bad enough.

This statement shows a weak grasp of both statistics and football. It was 'statistically impossible' (by your use) for the Red Sox to win the World Series last year, having to overcome both an 86-year drought and an unprecedented 0-3 deficit in the ALCS. Probability doesn't apply to past events; this Patriots team has as good a chance this year as it would if it had won no Super Bowls.

EDIT: Having seen the 'probabilities' you offered, I am further convinced that you have little idea what you are talking about.

I cant figure out the patriots......their team..just seems to get lucky always..they never blow out teams, they just always squeak by...If you notice the raider game..it was a close game till that defensive internception for a touchdown...again..luck...

Plus it kinda helps everytime youre in the playoffs you get to play in a blizzard like it see every time the playoffs roll around...that kinda fucks the teams that are offensively built..but thats part of the game i suppose..

If they continually get lucky and make the right plays at the right times to win games, it's not luck anymore. It's luck if it happens once or twice; not every week.

Well. If Losman can perform a metamorphosis, they'll be allright. Might even scratch out 9 or 10 wins. The defense is rock solid from front to back even without Takeo.

If Losman doesn't... and if he continues to struggle, then it's light's out. We'll be lucky to end up 4-12.

1. Goings isn't just as good. He's got guts but no big play ability. Even when he has a good day no team needs to stack the box.
2. Panthers are a one trick pony, and while it's a good trick it's not enough to win on it's own.

Panthers D 16.2 Pts/Gm Seahawks D 16.9 Pts/Gm Difference +0.7 Panthers
Panthers O 24.4 Pts/Gm Seahawks O 28.3 Pts/Gm Difference -3.9 Panthers
Total Difference -3.2 Pts/Gm Panthers. Of course that's in a neutral enviroment.
And those stats are biased against the Seahawks since they jumped out ahead so frequently they've essentially played about 2 fewer games than most teams with the meaningless game against green bay.

Not to mention, weighted against the strength of opponants the Redskins D was ranked #2, ahead of Carolina.

Sorry, the Charlottans will be revealed. Mighty Mouse will not save the day.

It's Peyton's fault. He has happy feet, and he can't avoid rushing defenders.

Marino could do it, and he was a lot slower than Peyton. Dan never blamed a bad game on his offensive line, though, and Peyton has.

If your talking about the Palamaloo (sp?) interception, I can say as an ardent Steelers fan that it was actually a good call. If you look at the replay, the ball popped out of his hand while one knee was still on the ground, which, by NFL rules, is NOT a catch.

Now technically, he caught it, in my opinion, but as the rules go, it was incomplete, and a good call by the Ref.

Now if you want to talk about a bad call, that would be Cower calling for a run with 1:22 left when they were up. They should have given a knee to it, and saved me 15 points of blood pressure. :D

:DEven more interesting...

A Steeler player went "on-camera" -we are talking Coast-to-Coast TV coverage- and spelled it out flat:
"the NFL officials wanted Manning to win.. the zebras (officials) were trying to give him the win..."

And he was NOT Fined.

They should look no further than their own celebrated linebacker Brian Urlacher for the answer.

They walked through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seated teams, ALL on the road! First time in NFL history!

Carolina nor Seattle stands a chance against that defense. They just make you look silly.

If they're a one trick pony, then how come they made it to the NFC Playoffs? I tell you something, the only reason Settle look good is that they had easy teams. Jeez, Carolina faced tougher team than Seattle did in the regular season. The whole illusion will come down tonight.

Yea, we'll see. We'll see who will go crying to mommy with the Panthers rip Seahawk's wings off.
Like I said, it's a good trick. Steve Smith is ... were going to need to invent an adjective, the ones we have are inadequate.... But here's one way to bust that trick. Keep him on the bench watching the game. Another one: FOR GOD SAKES don't let him run free through the secondary!!

I'll give you a tip. The good teams. The ones with great records. They beat up on the teams they play, they expose their flaws for all to see in a copycat league to see. They will almost always have a weak SOS (Strength of Schedule) the way it's measured. You're talking about a statistical sample where there's so much crossover, 2nd and 3rd order effects dominate the 1st order stuff, trying to mislead. Look at the tie breaking proceedures for playoff seeding, that should give you a very good idea of how accurate SOS is as the measure of a teams capability.

A Seahawks superbowl. Long have I waited.

Maybe they'll win it next year. :)
Maybe, but the Hawks are a lock to win this year. And the 1st Superbowl always means the most. Sorry Bettis, at least you'll be a first ballot hall of famer. If I'm still sober a week after we've won the superbowl, I'll try to remember to laugh at how everyone else is shocked that Seattle won.
