Please, tell us!

No, you certainly have a high post count by my standards.

Does that make everyone on NS your friend? :p

Wow, to most I can be talkative, but I choose not to be. It all really depends on if I feel like I have something meaningful, or interesting to say.

My posts on NS follow about the same methodology.

depends on the company... and my mood (a lot). when i first get together with friends i'm really quite talkative but if no booze is around i tend to dry up, become self-concious and become as shy around them as i am with strangers (which is really quite shy) after not too long, maybe an hour or so

and i'm antisocial depending on mood - i can be normal and want to go out & do things most of the time but then my mood flicks some kind of switch and i won't want to see anyone or do anything for days... sometimes weeks on end. i've lost a lot of friends this way :(

That sounds a lot like me actually, although I didn't have the friends in the first place. Every day for the past 4 weeks or so, I've just wanted to sit at home and do very little. Before that I was really active and extroverted. My moods fluctuate so much I think I should take medication sometimes.

I do not have a high post count. In fact, I don't know why I read this thread in the first place. And I post in it just to add 1 to my post count and to say, if anyone is listening, that I tend to be more talkative in real life as a by-product of working with people.

My post count's not that high, but I'll be presumptuous enough to answer: I would say yes. I can talk on the phone for hours with friends, and even longer face to face. I like meeting people. I also work in a profession where talking to and interacting with people is essential.

Depends on the situation. If its something such politics or religion the answer is yes. Or science in some cases.
But if it's a female that I am talking to and she's attractive, I do the opposite. I do most of the listening. Especially if they are talking about themselves. Probably because they are very interesting. I only interrupt occasionally to ask questions or give sage advice. I like to look in their eyes when they are talking too.
A lot of females have said I am the only guy that does that but I do not think that is true. Course if it was, it would just be one more proof of the fact that I am indeed God's Gift To Women.

i am similar to how Pure Metal described himself, but maybe a little less so extreme. I haven't lost too many friends, but i am reluctant to get together. I have an unnatural fear of getting into relationships with anyone even on a friendly basis. I fear that I may hurt them or myself. I can be talkative and when put into a particular situation, I am pretty good one on one. I do go out of my way to avoid people.

Whatever I do, be it working (motion graphics/3D animation/photo manipulation), talking (politics, religion, cosmology), playing (board games, video games, card games) or posting on NS (see "talking") I do it with a hard focus. I really throw myself into all the things I say and do. Some think I scowl, but I'm usually deep in thought, considering and weighing things in my mind. And then, when the moment is right, I speak - in as concise a manner to which I'm able in the given circumstances.

i can and do talk to anyone about anything. im not shy and no one intimidates me (well except for those people who threaten to kill me, but i dont count that).

i have no problem talking to big wigs or insignificants. i used to have fun talking to a wacked out homeless man at the laundromat; he was a hoot. he still owes me $5 for overestimating the iraqi death toll. i likewise have no problem talking to the few influential people i meet.

my problem is that i have high standards for social interaction and i get really annoyed at people who dont know how to hold up their end of a conversation. i cant stand stupid small talk. it makes me crazy when people go through that "lets talk about who we know and where we have been until we have something in common" thing. who CARES if my college roommate rubbed up against your uncle at carnival in rio back in '82?

does my postcount qualify as high?

I must say, this is all fascinating. I think I'll go back and change the title of the thread; everyone should be able to post here, without the "is my post count high enough?" part.

Anyhow, NS is one of the very few places I can be myself.

I find that quite interesting; NS is a place where I feel I can't really be myself - although this mainly has to do with the fact that I have my own personal sense of humour, which very few people get and that requires a lot of body language etc to understand that I'm joking.

Whatever I do, be it working (motion graphics/3D animation/photo manipulation), talking (politics, religion, cosmology), playing (board games, video games, card games) or posting on NS (see "talking") I do it with a hard focus. And then, when the moment is right, I speak - in as concise a manner to which I'm able in the given circumstances.

I tend to be like that in most things - especially when I'm in new company. As I get to know people, I say more things on-the-fly, without thinking about them so much. Unfortunately, I have the bad habit of thinking about what I'm going to say so much that it finally falls out of my mouth when I open it, leading to some very strange looks. I've learnt to get over it a little, but not completely.

Anyway, keep it up guys! I've never had a thread that's made it this far! :p

I'm shy with strangers, but I can talk for hours with people I know.

I'm very bad on the phone. I only call with a purpose (and no, just talking is not a purpose)

The internet is anonymous (well sort of anyway) so that takes away a lot of shyness.

Drinks help too (as stated before). I don't know about weed cause I've only smoked with friends.

Go back to the list of threads (the General forum), look at either the top or the bottom for the button that says, "New Post", click it, and start a new thread.

I agree, it's easier to talk on the Internet than with strangers in RL. Not only are you not afraid of being judged on appearance, but you can think about what you're saying and make sure it comes out eloquently.

It's much easier to do that in RL, I find. It takes skill and determination to pull it off here - if you do it once or twice, people may think you are being jokingly "n00bish".

Not having a high post count, I'm not sure if it's my place to answer, but I will say that I love meeting new people, so I love talking to people here. And the anonymity of the forum allows me to get into more heated debates than I would allow myself in real life.

I do talk a lot.....and express ,but mostly to my friends ,family, classmates ,professor......like people I know.
well I dont simply go to a stranger talk much, well I talk little but dont argue or discuss topics.....like I do in Nation states.I have been here just few days ago , a month or 2 probably.....so I have very few post and have not much time to post.

I'm curious...are you talkative in real-life, too? Or are you a shy person who says everything they have to say here? A bit of both?

Please, tell us!

Depends...

I'm always chatty if a stranger goes out of their way to initiate a conversation...but I wouldn't do so myself. I usually choose to keep to myself when among strangers. So i'm typically slow to make friends.

Around friends and people I know though, I can be pretty extraverted.

happy birthday! :fluffle: Thanks! :)

yeah eye contact... unnerving and weird at times. other times i make and keep it without even noticing. its odd
I can keep eye contact fairly well, it's just kind of hard, as I'm a little bit shorter than all the other 18-year-olds in my class. It's tough, skipping a grade.... :(

Harlesburg, you know it wasn't my idea! It was LG's! And I already apologized! :(

depends on the company... and my mood (a lot). when i first get together with friends i'm really quite talkative but if no booze is around i tend to dry up, become self-concious and become as shy around them as i am with strangers (which is really quite shy) after not too long, maybe an hour or so

and i'm antisocial depending on mood - i can be normal and want to go out & do things most of the time but then my mood flicks some kind of switch and i won't want to see anyone or do anything for days... sometimes weeks on end. i've lost a lot of friends this way :(

yeah, my brother is the only one so far that realises that when i shut myself in my room i don't want company. in RL im usually quiet with strangers and with people i don't like. otherwise im very talkative. ok so my PC isn't very high but who cares

*continues to resist counseling*

...And you can talk with people 4-10 years older than you like equals. See, no one has to know that I'm really an 11 year old geek who wears contacts and is really short and overweight...er nevermind *shifty eyes* ;)

lol, yeah its really good.

Hmmm what am I like in RL?

Pretty much the same. It can probably be said that I like to hear my voice. I have solitude moments as well where I am not in the mood for chatter.

I'm so talkative that people around me say 'Shut UP' before I can get one syllable out.
