You know you hang out with crazy people when you find yourself having to argue against the notion that the government created a hurricane.

People cite for example, the Environmental Modification Convention (http://www.state.gov/t/ac/trt/4783.htm) as proof that the UN nations have figured out ways to modify the weather to the point of creating hurricanes.

They also cite Nikola Tesla's weather experiments (Nikola Tesla seems to feature in just about any conspiracy theory it seems) and try to say that global warming is also manufactured.... by "Scientists."

Then in come the left-wing conspiracy theorists who claim the government did that because New Orleans area is mostly made up of poor black people who would vote Democratic anyway, and that if they destroyed their city then went in to help them they'd switch their vote. :rolleyes:

I would imagine it would be impossible to artificially manufacture a full scale natural phenomenon as destructive as Katrina was.

Besides, why would they create a hurricane to decimate the Deep South, and more importantly, how would they monitor and control it?

:p :p Ok man you need stop reading Micheal Chrichton. There is no way anyone could make a hurricane. Katrina was caused by the warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico which fueled the hurricane. Before it got to the the gulf it was only a catagory 1 hurricane.

Remember though, all those conspiracy theorists who warned you should be careful what you say on your cell phones as all those conversations are monitored and recorded?

They were right as immediately after 9/11 the FBI and CIA started going through cell phone recordings they had to find terrorist communication. Anything said on landline or cell phone is listened too. Maybe not actively but, if eyebrows get raised...

But since it's the Democrats that are generally trying to disarm people, maybe THEY caused it to put the blame on Republicans and make gun owners look bad and be forcibly disarmed. After all demographically, poor blacks rarely vote and are therefore expendable to politicians.

It was the UN. They want to send troops to take over the United States under the guise of a humanitarian mission.

I've seen the hurricane factory myself! It's all true! The factory is small and you'd never notice it from the highway. They have a whole bunch of jet engines lined up vertically inside a round room.

Once they turn on the engines, the air starts swirling. Then when it's a baby hurricane the floor opens and it drops into a huge jar. (They also make tornadoes there too, they're smaller and easier to make than hurricanes).

So when they need a hurricane they load on of these jars onto an army cargo plane, and fly it to the spot on the ocean where they want the hurricane to start, with favorable wind conditions in place. Then they dump the jar out of the plane and a few small well-placed explosive charges shatter the jar. BINGO instant hurricane!

You have to beleive me, I've seen it! Now I have to go hide under my bed so the gov't won't find me, and lock me up for letting out their little secret...

What happens is that I make a swirling motion with my finger over the spot on the Multiverse Map where I want the hurricane to start, and drag my finger over the area it will cross.

Their refusal to believe that gloabl warming exists and thus their total lack of action when it comes to making America a greener country has led to more global warming (though, arguably, not the loss in profit that most of the rest of the world has suffered as they, with the exception of Arrogant America, have fought to try to decrease global warming). Hurrican Katrina was partially attributed to far higher sea levels, which led to the Hurricanes creation. The higher sea levels came form the melting ice caps at the North and South poles. Why are they melting? Global Warming. Who is refusing to believe even in the existance of gloabl warming? America. Who did the Hurricane strike? the Americans.

It's not along the lines you were thinking of, perhaps, but it proves the point that they manufactured the hurricane.

The difference being, of course, that is at least theoretically possible to monitor all phone conversations. It is completely impossible to manufacture a hurricane. :p

And I don't want to hijack this thread, but as for monitoring all phone conversations - In order for that to work, there would need to be some kind of connection between every telephone phone switch in America and the hypothetical location where the CIA processes all of the data. Which means, practically, that for every long-distance trunk line, there would need to be a second trunk line of equal capacity leading to the processing site. You'd effectively need to double the amount of telephone infrastructure for this to happen.

It happens that I used to work for a long-distance phone company, in the very department that controlled the company's long-distance trunk lines. So I'm in a position to know for a fact that such duplicate lines do not exist. And please don't claim the CIA could hide them from me. There's no way to hide that amount of equipment from the people who would have to have access to it in order to make it work in the first place. And there's no other practical way to get the data to the imaginary processing facility. And then there's the amount of computing power it would take to process all of that data... So while it's theoretically possible, in practice it's just not happening.

Yeah, but thats very very indirect, I wouldn't consider "ignoring global warming" to be "manufacturing a hurricane." I mean, if I feed you some barbecue beans, am I actually manufacturing farts? No, your gastrointestinal system is.

And then it doesn't site these 'records.' Just implies that they exist, and leaves ito schizophrenic symptoms to come up with the rest.

I hope that's not your idea of logic. I could give the short course on where and how they form, and the reasons why "global warming" isn't quite the guilty party we should all think of.

But I'll leave that to you. :)
