Latest ELections in Japan

I got the results of the latest election and was surprised to find I was disappointed. I really have nothing against the LDP have no personal interest of any significance in how Japan is governed, yet I'm disappointed by the LDP winning another massive majority. I've been trying to figure out why this would disappoint me when I really have no stake in the outcome of the election and all could come up with is this:

I favor the dialectic in politics and the once again mighty LDP majority (30ish votes from a super-majority) means that the LDP doesn't have to pay attention to the points-of-view of the opposition. The DPJ was so close to gaining a plurality and breaking the LDP hold on the Diet which they've had since the Diet was formed (the LDP still had a plurality and an effective veto the one year they didn't form the government) that I felt certain it was going to happen. I feel that the need for an effective government outweighed the concerns about what those effects would be in the minds of the voters who once again gave the LDP power, a bad thing when the majority of the citizens care less about what the government is doing than how well it can do anything (a note, that is how I base most of my voting decisions but I consider it an act of desperation).

Anyone else have any thoughts on the election which might cheer me up or depress me more?
