OK, I just saw the most demented advert on TV. It's for Norwich Union (an insuance company IIRC) featuring various people dancing in crazed delight.

Any other stupid adverts out there or does this take the crown?

Why is that stupid?

Any advert with Linda sodding Barker in it.

The sofa advert with Katie Melua droning 'The closest thing to crazy' in the background.

The adverts showing clumsy and/or stupid people boasting about claiming compensation for falling over/falling off ladders.

The windows advert with the screaming bald and bearded man screaming "YOU KNOW THE ONE, YER BUY ONE, YOU GET ONE FREE, YER BUY ONE, YOU GET ONE FREE!!!"

The repulsive Cannon and Ball windows advert.

Hideous.

I saw one while sleeping through a football game yesterday that had a Diet Pepsi machine playing Wide Receiver for the Patriots.

And there was one showing how Coors light brought Patriots and Raiders fans together...

The best is the one where the Burger King guy catches a pass and takes it in for a touchdown while the 2 teams watch stupefied...

I hate watching football...but you can't beat the commercials...

Hahahaha!

That reminds of the Sugar Puffs advert where the Honey Monster was playing for Newcastle United (Keegan era).

I hate Burger King's ads for their chicken fries. That pseudo rock club with a band in weird chicken suits and screaming just doesn't make me wanna go there.

Anything that says two-in-one.

Two-in-noe is a bullshit term anyways...one cannot contain two that was why two was invented in the first place.

A new T-Mobile cell phone "family plan" ad on the theme of how enormous phone bills from other companies are such a bad thing:

A father walks into his teenage son's room without knocking and finds the boy standing in front of his mirror, wearing a dress and putting on lipstick. The boy stares at his father in terror and starts to stammer, "Dad, it's not what it looks like," but the father just looks at him with grave disappointment, holds up a crumpled bill and says, "These phone charges are outrageous" (obviously blaming his son for using the phone too much) and walks out.

What do you think? I think it's evilly funny, but is it too evil to sell phone plans?

[EDIT: Actually, maybe it's just evil.]

I hate the City and Guilds advert, a kid is banging on the wall and you here what sounds like him having a wank, the parents are horrified and then it pans around into the kid's room and you see like hands and shit poking out his chest trying to get out, then it skips to the next morning where the kid looks refreshed and seems more relaxed (plus he mysteriously turns into a Chav) way to freak the fsck out of me.

Hmmmm....I'd say the Nissan or Toyota commericals that refer to them as American cars. I mean, okay, they were partially assembled in America.....but in my region, "American car" insinuates it's at least an American company......

Agreed on the Burger King chicken thingie commercials, though. Freakin annoying.

I think the oddest advert I see on TV right now is for Tesco clothes... I just find it strange that they're advertising themselves using Lenin, commie stars, and the hammer and sickle.

Odd imagery for the leading supermarket chain in Britain. At least the music in the advert is absolutely amazing.

I think it may be inspired by an Aphex Twin music video.

But yeah it's a headf***.

Agreed.

The music is awesome, I agree. I love it. It was often used in my childhood to accompany documentaries showing endless Soviet Red Army Tanks rolling down the Red Square, I have always associated it with the Iron Curtain imagery.

The music is Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, 'The Montagues and The Capulets'.

I know.

It's one of my favourite pieces of music. Though admittedly I thought it was Tchaikovsky's up until recently.
I also didn't know it was closely associated with the soviet union.

Mine too.

An easy mistake to make.

I also didn't know it was closely associated with the soviet union.

It did have that right sort of 'tone' to be played with pictures of The Red Army marching.

I think the Soviets rather liked it too.
