The Flintstones were supposed to be based on a show called the HoneyMooners,

Staring, Jackie Gleason The Great One, as Ralp Krandom, a New York City bus driver,
Audrey Meadows, Pert Kelton, Sue Ann Langdon, Sheila Macrae and Jane Kean, as Allice Krandom, his loving wife, Art Carney, as Ed Norton a sewer worker and Ralph Krandom's best friend and buddy,
and Joyce Randolph as Trixie Norton Ed Norton's
calm practical wife.

I once saw a Flintstone Poll where about 50 percent of the viewers were children and 50 percent adults, declaring it more of an adult cartoon show then a kids cartoon show, what is your view?

What will La Habana Cuba think of next?, Yabba-Dabba-Doo.

Flintstones Music & More

"The Flintstones" featured some great music. From the theme song "Meet the Flintstones" to "Bug Music", and from the "Way-Outs" to the Swedish visitors Ingmar, Ole, and Sven Erocksen, who sang "I Love my Vilma". Then there was the time Fred sang with "Hot Lips Hannigan" who nick-named Fred the "Golden Smog", and course, the episode based on the "Shindig" TV series where there was a version of the band "The Beau Brummels" singing their hit "Laugh Laugh". This episode also had a great dream sequence with Fred teaching his dance to stone-age caricatures of President Lyndon B. Johnson and French President Charles De Gaulle.

The Theme Song

The "Meet the Flintstones" theme song was not included in the opening and closing sequences until the third season. The lyrics were written by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, with music by Hoyt Curtin, who also composed the theme and background music for every episode of The Flintstones, as well as around 300 Hanna Barbera cartoons. The song was actually a reworking of sad music already composed for one of the episodes and was recorded with a 22-man jazz band and five singers.

OPENING LYRICS:

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones
They're the modern stone-age family
From the town of Bedrock
They're a page right out of history
Let's ride with the family down the street
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet
When you're with the Flintstones
Have a yabba-dabba-doo time
A dabba-doo time
You'll have a gay old time
CLOSING LYRICS:

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones
They're the modern stone-age family
From the town of Bedrock
They're a page right out of history
Some day, maybe Fred will win the fight
And that cat will stay out for the night
When you're with the Flintstones
Have a yabba-dabba-doo time
A dabba-doo time
You'll have a gay old time

Who's cartoons are better (and why): Hanna-Barbera or Warner Bros.? Does either compare to Disney? Who's characters would you rather run into trying to find your way to a rollercoster?

Bedrock Twitch
(William Hanna / Joseph Barbera)
Rock Roll, the famous (what else?) rock 'n' roll star, performs this song in a parody of (what else?) the twist. From the well-known episode "The Twitch".

Intro:

tell your mama not to wait
you ain't getting home till late

verse 1:
Theres a town I know where the hipsters go they call it Bedrock
Twitch! Twitch!
And when you get an itch to do the Twitch in Bedrock
it's a twitchin' town so I'll see you down in Bedrock
Twitch! Twitch!

verse 2:
Well, we'll twitch around the clock tonight in Bedrock
Twitch! Twitch!
And Rock is gonna roll with all his might in Bedrock
Twitch! Twitch!
It's a twtichin town, so I'll seee ya down in Bedrock
Twitch! Twitch!

There's been something I've always wondered as a kid. If the stone age was that advanced how much do you think technology would have progressed up to this point?

103. ANN-MARGROCK PRESENTS (P-103)
Written by Harvey Bullock and R. Saffian, Rec 6-28-63, Air 9-19-63
Fred and Wilma hire "Annie" to babysit Pebbles, unaware that the young woman is actually Ann-Margrock in town for a show (for which Fred and Barney plan to audition).

The Littlest Lamb

You are still awake and it's half past your bedtime
The sandman had a date he didn't keep.
But when the lambs comence,
to jump across the fence,
I'll count them all until you fall asleep...

The first little lamb jumped over the fence,
and was off to the land of nod.

The second and third were close behind,
like three little peas in a pod.

The fourth little lamb was too chubby to jump,
he crawled under instead.

The fifth little lamb wasn't there at all,
he must have stayed home in bed.

Number six jumped around as confused as could be,
he didn't know where he had been.
He jumped over that's true, but before he was through,
he jumped over, jumped back, and jumped over again.

The next little lamb, was the littlest lamb,
too little for such a big leap.
Though he tried like a scout,
he soon tuckered out,
and the littlest lamb was asleep.

The littlest lamb is asleep.

Well, I always wondered about Fred and Barneys 'friendship'. And why Barney never managed to impregnate Betty. Now she was hot!
Actually maybe Betty and Wilma got up to a little hot girl-on-girl sybaritic action when the boys were at work.

As a bit of trivia - Wilma and Fred were the first married couple to be seen in bed together on American TV. Before that all couple had to be in seperate beds.
