Bible verses for the War on Terror/9-11.

Psalm 140, New King James version

1 Deliver me, oh Lord, From evil men;
Preserve me from Violent men,

2 Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather for war;

3They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah

4. Keep me, oh Lord, from the hands of the wicken;
Preserve me from violent men,

Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.

5.The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me. Selah

8. Do not grant, oh Lord, the desires of the wicked; Do not further his evil wicked Scheme, lest they be exalted. Selah

9. As for the head of those who surround me, let the evil of their lips cover them;

10 Let burning coals fall upon them;
Let them be cast into the fire,
Into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
Let not a slanderer be established in the earth;Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

Am I supposed to be able to tell who's who in any of that? Sounds like it could be describing PNAC as far as I can tell... :rolleyes:

Well, I don't think Al Qaeda or PNAC were around when they were written. Sounds to me like the Psalmist would have them all thrown into a lake of fire though.

Cool verse. Reminds me of this

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Romans 12:19-21

19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[a]says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."[b] 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Matthew 5:43-47

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 22:36-40

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Luke 6:27-28

27"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

I love how friendly and loving the Bible is :p

Check some other verses-the bible is a record of human history throughout the ages and God's written word to man. It shows the depravity and moral decay of man and god's compassion and wisdom.

This isn't a thread to debate the veracity of the Bible- so whatever floats your boat

I think I'll leave it to the other Christians to show that what ARF COM and IBTL posted isn't the only thing the Bible is about.

The key is in the Beatitudes (http://www.pbministries.org/books/pink/Beatitudes/beatitudes.htm), and not in any "Bible verses for the War on Terror/9-11".

The Seventh Beatitude

Aw, but you see, it's easier to be a war-mongering fool than to listen to what your supposed Lord and Saviour actually had to say about peace and loving each other.

"And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge, with ate by his side come hot from hell, shall in these confines with a monarch's voice cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war, that this foul deed shall smell above the earth with carrion men groaning for burial." -Julius Caesar

Prepare for war, kill for peace. :p

I am using this passage as my bible reading in my speech 101 class Tuesday, so I am going to be memorizing the whole thing. Ohh boy....
