Just a couple seconds ago, I remembered a dream I had last night.

I was immortal, I couldn't kill myself. I begged God to destroy me, though I knew there was no afterlife. I wanted to stop being something that didn't belong, I wanted to be let free. He granted my request.

What could this possibly mean? I'm not sure. If anyone has an inkling as to what this might mean, please feel free to discuss.

If any of you have seen Solaris, the "guests" aboard the station would simply regenerate each time they "died". Only through a modified subatomic annihilator (sp?) could their matter systems be terminated. Anyways.

cant help you with your dream.sounds like you are struggling with something and are depressed over it?
wanting to die is not healthy..no pun intended,yet being unhappy with your life is not healthy either.

maybe you can help me..good post by the way.i usually never dream(too drunk..lol)but ironically i had 1 last night,which i find interesting that you posted this.

i dreamt i was walking down a mountain in the snow...to visit my son...a really big mountain,and i see a mountain lion(cougar,puma)about 10 feet away,so i obviously decide to give it a wide berth,2 trails going downhill,i go to the left(away from puma)but at the crossroads i slip and slide towards it;s side of the trail.
it looks at me,i try to act nonchalant,and keep on walking...it growls and starts towards me.
i decide to run even though i know it is futile,and of coarse fall and tumble.i look up and i see the lion standing over me,all i can think is my sons going to be pissed i was late or didn't show up,the cat attacks me.....i remember trying to fend it off...then woke up soaked in sweat.

i did not mean to hijack your thread,sorry,but it really peaked my interest since i dont usually dream.

as for your dream,after more thought,and i know nothing...it would suggest to me that you are in a position of control or power,yet you are not happy with the position you are in. ergo the need/want to die.or at the least,have a respite from the situation :fluffle:

Definately there is a conflict of faith in there, since if someone truly didnt beflieve in God why would ya ask on such a thing to Free you?

Other then that, such a dream would to me mean you are simply not happy with your place in life. You have some goal which at some point you set and currently dont remember and yet your subconcious does, so it is picking at you.

Course personally, the only time death being preferable to life for me, was in dealing with the opposite sex in emotional states.

In the end though, maybe take a placebo (aka see a shrink if it really effecting you badly) they will figure out a way your parents failed you, switch the hate there and in the end you feel better :)

"God", in his dream represents authority figure, or the one who can help him with the problem/issue.

Interesting, since we dont believe in him, we still show respect him by making the first letter in his name capital. (we not being literal, but to fit in with the international community here)

Well..I dont know about the entire NS community, but you're correct, Im an athiest.
However, being as I was referring to the proper noun, I think capitalizing the "G", in god, is correct.

Anywhoos, people in dreams are rarely representational of the actual person.

were you raised in a religous family,and rebelled against it?
i was an alter boy(no cheap shots please)and as soon as i was old enough to tell my p's to f off i did.
yet years of heavy drug abuse later,i find myself guilt ridden and somewhat spiritual,probably due to the brainwashing i absorbed as a child...i will never go back to the church,but there is something to like about a benevolent figure that loves you no matter what.
maybe..and i say maybe....you are going thru an identity thing because of your upbringing,and have normal unresolved issues with regards to your faith or lack of.
again,all speculation,based on my life which probably has zip to do with yours. :)

You think becuase Im an athiest, it seems strange to capitalize a name?

If it helps, I capitalize Santa Claus's name as well, and I dont believe in him, either.

They think they are the center of the universe and all else just float around em to in one way or another serve their purpose.

argh, you win. after all. where is the debate here ? :) I believe in God and you do not.. not my place to impose on your views . In todays America its all about your being able to freely shove your views down my throat..... which is why America is failing of late.

Another athiest on the scene :) Predicting what his/her comment will be when he/she gets to hell and finds out heaven was real ? :) Or were are those question marks meaning you were going to ask something ? Wow, noone was even attempting to criticise your religion. What's with the attacks on atheists? I don't happen to think I'm the centre of anything.

Anyway, as for dream interpretation... I studied Psychology and I have no repsect for all this Freudian bollocks. You can't just interpret a dream by itself and get anything useful. Frankly, dreams don't necessarily mean anything at all. If they do, a detailed understanding of your life would be needed and noone from a forum is going to be able to help. If you are happy with how your life is going then I say just ignore your dreams. If you are unhappy in some way, that may be an opportunity to see a therapist or just think about what may be wrong yourself.

i am not an atheist....but according to you ,i guess they deserve to burn in hell....mighty christian of you.

I can answer your question very succinctly. Your dream means absolutely nothing. Dreams mean nothing. If you are looking for meaning in your dream, then you are lost.

A dream is your brain being active at night. That's what your dream means.

Going by the way you've acted in this thread, I'm not surprised you get attacked by athiests. If you insult somebody and show a complete lack of respect for their beliefs, they will insult you back.

its sounds to me that tyma is just venting. probably because of the lack of morality he has experienced during his life. i have to say i know how he feels. but i think you should just leave it alone.
