My resignation

Hello, once again, and for the last time:

After careful consideration, I have decided that my time at NationStates has come to an end. Sadly, this has taken too much of my precious time – for nothing constructive.

Two years ago NationStates was fun, because apart from the debate the players got to know each other. It was a good purpose. But today, the debates have often turned into bitterness, sarcasm and scorn, and they repeat themselves all the time. So I sat back and thought: what am I doing here? Why am I getting upset over people’s thoughts that won’t change? Haven’t I already made my points very clear over and over again? Frankly, I’m getting tired. There’s no point in staying here.

Now, why would I make a tantrum about quitting? It’s because this was such a nice place, and I will definitely miss a lot of the things going around here and the people logging on and off here. A definite departure will make me less likely to come back, and will perhaps make you feel better too? All-in-all, I’ve enjoyed my time here immensely. All of you nice people, whether your viewpoints were with me or completely against me, have made an impact on me, one that will be difficult to forget or ignore. Heh, I hope that I have made an equally pleasant impact on you people.

But good times do come to an end. I may come back – who knows? Cheerio! God bless!

*waves and hugs*

P.S.: if for some reason out of many (heh!) you wish to establish a personal contact, feel free to telegram me and leave an email address.

Look, another "Hey look at me, I'm leaving NationStates and making a post to ensure that you all care" thread.

At least this one offers an explanation as to why make the thread, but there's no good reason for publicly announcing your departure, really. Unless you're a mod, maybe. And if that's the case, it could be done in the Moderation forum.

Yes, what indeed could possibly be the point in saying goodbye? He has, after all, only been around for a couple of years, and it's not like he's very friendly with a lot of people here.. So what indeed could be the point?

Anyway Dragons Bay, we disagree on everything we've ever debated, and while I'm sure you've found me every bit as frustrating as I've found you, I will miss your odd perspective. I hope you think better of it & decide to stay. If not, then have a nice life. It was interesting talking with you.

I've been on and off nationstates for longer than 2 years, under a handful of different names and never felt compelled to say goodbye.

Mostly, maybe, because instead of conciously leaving the forum, other things started taking up my time, so I gradually shifted and eventually temporarily forgot about NationStates.

But either way, if he's made very strong e-relationships on this board, he should have more of those people's contact info by this point (and can therefore chat with them maybe on an instant messenger).

Anyone else that he hasn't gotten that close to probably doesn't care beyond being able to make a couple spam posts in this thread:I am indifferent to this. Bye.

"Hey, hey! Lookit me! I'mma dun care tha'yer leavin', so I'mma gunna post scornful and hateful messages...'cause I think that any sentiments ya may'a had hurr makes notta spit'O'Diff'rence!"

Seriously...the fellow's been here for a good long while. Apperantly he's had a lot of emotions and thoughts engrained into our boards. Don't bash him because he wants to bid a final farewell.

If you don't want to say goodbye, don't post anything.

If you think that posting farewell is a waste...don't bump it by moaning about it.

And as for you, Dragon's Bay...I bid thee fare well...maye your path be marked by triumph and victory. And may you leave the broken, gnarled bones of your enemies in your dung piles.
