Any computer-literate persons about who could help me...?

Okay, here's the situation. I bought a laptop with an Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics card, and it's been running my games beautifully. Yesterday, though, I tried to run a game, and it just...didn't. So I figured it was a problem resulting from the whole Daemon Tools/no disc setup, and tried to run with the disc. No results.

So I tried uninstalling, re-installing, no results. The game will not start. I decide to check out the graphic card settings, and there seems to be a bit of a problem. As in, now it doesn't even say I have the Nvidia card, it only says I have one of the sh¡tty Intel integrated ones. Which I did have along with the Nvidia, but still. Where did it go?

First, I try just reinstalling the drivers. No go. So I go into the device manager, try to uninstall the Intel card, restart my machine, and see what happens. The 6800 doesn't even show up.

I got a new driver, as the computer help desk people suggested, from omegadrivers.net, and it has said "executing files" for about...oh, 20 minutes or so.

Still not working. Advice, please, if you can give it.

24 hours?

Yup. If you bought it from best buy, they're on the warranty, and'll visit you, 24/7. Very useful.

I honestly have no clue how to help you. On my old laptop, it was reformatted, I lost a driver, got it again, it refused to install, so I was stuck with a bare minimum of colours. *twitches*

Laptops have a lot of propriatary (sp?) hardware. Makes trouble shooting hard without knowing the brand and model extra features.

...I didn't buy it from Besy Buy, though.

I got it customized at cyberpowersystems.com.

Try this:

Go into the Device Manager

http://www.mysuperpc.com/pc_assembly/device_manager_1.gif

right-click your graphics card and choose to "Upgrade" the driver. Don't have it connect to the Internet and choose to install manually from a list or designated place. "Browse" to locate the relevant drivers (where you unpacked them) and install them that way. See if it works.

Things will be called somewhat differently in your English system, since those things I mentioned are just rough translations from their Swedish counterparts.

When I went into device manager, the Nvidia graphics card didn't even show up, only the Intel one did.

Then you have to use the Add Hardware wizard in the control panel.

That's a guide on what to do. Page 3 and onward should help you.

If nothing works, then your graphics card may simply be broken and you will need to have it serviced.

In your system bios, when you boot up, make sure that the integrated graphics card on your mobo is disabled.
