Hey all. By some coincidence: this is my 5000th post... and I'm leaving the forums this week.
Between working full time in NYC, grad school, and trying to have a social life, I simply don't have time for the forums anymore. Especially since they found my... er... "unapproved" proxy server at work, so no more lunchtime NS. :(
It's been nice (and often confrontational!) chatting with you all for the past year and a half or so. I've learned a few things, hope I've imparted a few, and decided that I am really, really, really happy that we have an Electoral College. :D
What I've learned:
(If anyone is surprised by any of this, you've not been here long enough).
* No one ever reads a post in the spirit it's intended. :(
* The forums (at least over the last 18 months) are about 50% European, 35% American, 5% Canadian, 5% Anzac and 5% everything else. That's not exactly imperical data, but it seems about right.
* The forums (at least over the last 18 months) are about 50% Liberal/socialist, 35% conservative/capitalist, 10% idiots and 5% centrists.
(If you think I'm being kind about the 10% idiots, please understand that an idiot isn't necessarily someone you don't agree with, it's someone that makes no sense...)
* Given that, it's hard to be a centrist. However, in general, I've been attacked/debated/queried/pontificated upon by the liberal/socialist camp far more than the conservative/capitalist side.
* The death penalty, abortion, freedom of speech, prohibition was wrong, stopping the drug war and the right to bear arms. If you're not either for or against all of these, I suggest you might want to revist these issues in a quiet setting.
* Nothing is ever settled in a forum.
* Men like brests. :D
* Save your posts in a folder on a hard drive. Eventually, you'll find that you can repost yourself... this saves a lot of time.
Take care, all.

hmm actually, I don't disagree that much with Markreich.
We weren't the closest pals, and we didn't come across each other all that much, but it's always bitter-sweet to see someone leave this place. Good on you for doing it, but, you know...

It shows that we need some new great posters. Most of the great ones of the past (Tink, Sinuhue, Markreich, etc.) are leaving. We need great ones of the future now (like me and...uh...I can't think of any others right now;)).
As soon as I have time I'll be baaaack!!!! ;)
EDIT: Why did it log me on as TCE again?! :(

Sorry to see a fellow centrist leave. You're a shooter and hunter, I believe. You ever get up to the Adirondacks, look me up. We can do some of both.

Thanks. I still have about 30,000 "surplus" deer here in Connecticut to keep from running into Buicks. That'll take awhile... ;)
GAH! Where am I going to get my Queensryche fixes/information from?????
You will be missed, man. :(
Holy shit! Who's going to keep Cat in line??? Wait, there's a whole army of people waiting to do that. :D

Thanks amigo, take care, and keep on keeping folks informed. I'm horrified that some folks think gun control means something besides keeping 'em in the 10 ring. ;)
Final post. Be seeing you!

Sorry to see you leave.
All the best!
I am sorry to have to say this, but I think actually you are one of the more rude people I have seen post of late. I have no problem with people stating opinions that disagree and debating these (I'd be a bit crazy coming to this website if I did!!!), but I think it's important always to do so politely. Sometimes you have crossed the line... (I shall be responding to your post on Swedish immigration, which is still very wrong later).
None-the-less, best of luck outside NS:General!!

Even though i could only part of the time agree with you, you at least seemed to think about the nature of the issue seriously enough to put forth some kind of considerable information, which i respect. Good luck to you.
