Da Vinci Codes: The Movie
The New Diabolicals

I have heard good news that The Da Vinci Codes by Dan Brown is going to be made into a big-budget film. Reading the first 30 chapters you can see it is good material for movies but there has been a one nun protest! So say what you think. Is the book too good to be ruined by a film like many other novels or is this a great idea. And if there are any nuns who want to protest speak now. Unless it's silent hour.

I love how church leaders want to protest this movie and yet they forget that they can pick up a version of the book in the FICTION section of a book store.

Is the book too good to be ruined by a film...
Ha ha ha ha. Ha ha. Ha.
The Da Vinci Code is a terrible book. Between the absurdly stupid characters, the many gaping plot holes, and the "difficult" riddles so easy that a child could solve them (and, in fact, I tried the final riddle on a couple of moderately intelligent fifth-graders, who solved it in a matter of about two minutes), I can't imagine how anyone can take it seriously. It can't be ruined by turning it into a movie - it was written to be turned into a movie. It has exactly as much depth as the average summer blockbuster.
Sure, it's fun, if you happen to like that sort of thing. But we're hardly talking about quality literature here.

Well Oppie is directing it so it will probably be pretty good! :)
I will check it out.
Hmmm I wonder if there will be protestors outside the theater?
Wonder if it will make the AFA's hit list? ;)

I'll watch it. Then laugh as the History channel replays their special where they rip its ideas to shreds. Man that was a dumb book.
But I'll still watch the movie. Gotta have something to do.

Pssst. It's a novel, not a documentary.

Did anyone play that sierra game that had the exact same plot...Uhm...what was the name of it again?

Well it's not so much the fictional novel, but the fact that many people seem to have taken it seriously. And since the average movie-goer in the US is much dumber than the average book-reader in general, there could easily be legions of the stupid thinking that the Da Vinci Code is accurate in its historical portrayal.
That's more what I'd be laughing at.

To be honest; the book was poorly written. I guessed the the point Dan Brown made at the end halfway through and even guessed all the twists long before they happened as well.
From the way it was written the cliffhangers were more akin to a movie format than how cliffhangers are done in literature, or have been done.
I'm sorry but this was always destined to be a film and I bet the hollywood budget will allow writers to actually work on the story to make it more credible than the book. In the end this piece of literature certainly doesn't need dumbing down any further.
[/EDIT]P.S. It is Tom Hanks, and Sir Ian McKellen, or so I hear

Will there be explosions and blonde bimbos with big tits?
You seem to either love or hate the book. Same can be said about the Harry Potter series (which I loathe, BTW). I liked The Da Vinci Code...I liked Angels and Demons better though.
I'll probably see "Da Vinci Code" in theatres when it comes out. Won't go crazy and line up for hours though (like some poor fools do whenever a new "Harry Potter" movie comes out... ).

The only reason i absoluelty LOATH that book- is the very first page where he states historical 'facts'.
They're not.
Never mind the litany of badly written plots and pseudo-scientific jargon.... i mean 'symbology'? WTF? Thats not even a word- nevermind a profession!

Symbologists would probably be very annoying people to be around.

Movies based on books are always worse than the books. Ergo, a movie based on The Da Vinci Code would make Manos: Hands of Fate look good.

Aw, "Manos: Hands of Fate" is good....in its own special way. It takes a lot of uniqueness and creativity to come up with the idea of a man with terrifyingly large knees, after all! ;)

First hit on Google for "symbologist" yields this (http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/robertlangdon/). Not only is it a word (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/symbology), it is a profession.

The thing is that idiot Darren Brown puts in the front of it things that he calls "facts" which he says he based his story on, but if you look at each one of these so called "facts" they have been widely dismissed for sometime, hence why no one took them seriously untill recently

Yeah, like when that liar Kafka wrote about this guy turning into a bug overnight! Nobody turns into a giant bug overnight! In fact, insects that big don't even exist!

It's a brilliant book. Just because you can't understand some of the 3 syllable words in it doesn't mean it is bad. Anyway your called pollywannacracker, i rest my case.

He's Dan Brown. Darren Brown is a strange magician who claimed to shoot himself in the head playing Russian Roulette.
