I'm curious as to where NSers stand on the kids front. Whether you have kids, want kids… you know.

I really don't like kids as a group, but I don't think I'd have much aversion to playing a substantial part in raising one. Just not yet. >_>

Nah, no kids for me. Ever.

The "kids in the future" discussion is already causing soeme nasty problems in my relationship now, but I remain steadfast. Looks like I'll be single again before the year is out.

Don't have any. I don't like them at all, and don't want to ever have any. Luckily, my partner and I are in full agreement on this issue.

Don't have any, don't want any.
I have no problems with kids once they approach their teens, or at any point beyond that, but I don't really like smaller children.

But I don't really see this as ever becoming a problem, as I don't have a partner and am not very likely to get one anytime

Don't have any, unless my puppy counts =).

Want at least two in the future, one that I get pregnant and give birth to, and one that I adopt.

I am glad that I hear more and more people say they don't want no steenking kids. I wish I heard that more from the people who are having kids but can't afford them.

I get on rather well with kids… at least, the ones I've met. They don't seem to mind me, and I'm a great believer in discipline…

I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. Both girls. I am not having any more. I have an uncle with 17 kids and he complains about how much it costs to support them. I figure after the first one you should know what causes kids. Don't have any more than you can afford. ( and by afford I mean feed, clothe, shelter, education, and medical)

I love kids, since i think like them i get along with them till they go into that experimentaion years then we usually part ways. But i'd NEVER have any kids of my own, im too much of a kid at heart to take responsibility for one or two, last thing I want is for them to be like me. Yeeesh!

well, my granny had 15. it's probably because of religiousness. my grandmother was a very devout catholic and didn't use contraception... so it kinda makes sense. plus it meant more workers for the farm ;) :p

yeah that's what I thought. His wife didn't want to take the pill cuz "it makes me fat" and he didn't want to do his part because "its like taking a shower in a rain coat" or something equally stupid.

any way I got my hubby snipped so we won't be having that problem....

I wouldn't mind 3 or so, but I don't have to worry about it right now, not for another decade or so.

i know, but they don't work 100% of the time and she wasn't really aware of other methods. she loved all her children and she never regreted any one of them, so i suppose all's well. though, i'm paying for it now, i've got so many bleedin cousins, i can't remember them all! best not to plan the amount of children because not everything works as plan, and that's not always a bad thing

In that case, good for you! I'm not particularly fond of most people my age… I don't hate them or anything like that, just that I associate with a group of oddballs including a vampire, an authoritarian socialist and a properly crazy person. Also I really dislike a lack of articulation, which is why we don't let my 3 year old brother drop his Ts. :)

You don't like kids? :( What about nice and thoughtful kids (most of the time, kids are never like that all of the time but I keep getting kisses!)No, as a general rule, I really don't like them. However, the polite and respectful ones I have much more time for (even though their unbroken voices still serve to irritate me - I know, I know, it's not their fault, but it's still like scraping nails down a blackboard for me). You just don't see many of the polite and thoughtful types these parts of the woods. When I do, I am pretty impressed with both the children and their parents. Still, even if I could guarantee my offspring would be the nicest, most polite and civil children on the planet, I still wouldn't have them. I value my career and social relationships too much; for me, children would put a strain on that. I fully appreciate that's not the way it is for everyone (for the majority, indeed), but it's just not for me.

I work with kids, teacher and counselor.
To all of you who say they don't want kids and will never have, I applaud. It is so disheartening to raise a child who was an "accident" Just make sure you use protection.

If I ever find someone who can put up with me, maybe I'll have kids. Otherwise adoption is fine.

my son is 19 and in college

kids are great

if you want them

if you dont DONT GIVE INTO THE PRESSURE TO HAVE ONE! your life will be perfectly fine without the childrent you dont want to have

the point i really want to make

one IS enough. you dont need a 2nd child for any reason. (except that you really really want another). s/he doesnt need a "playmate"; you dont need to "try again so your husband can have the son he wants"; you dont have to worry that one will be spoiled. one child leaves you a life outside of parenthood.

I think I'm mesmerized by the idea of a little bit of me in another human being. While not generally a fan of kids, my kids would be something entirely different. I would pamper and protect and provide limitlessly, just short of spoiling them. (Probably still spoiling any if they're girls. My little girl. What a magical idea for a potential father.)

I think two would be ideal, and I'd have them when everyone was prepared for them, both financially and emotionally.

Now, if I could only find my copy of Hypnosis for Beginners, I could brush past all of these silly feminine mysteries and get to the family bit.
