The Big Easy Goofball?

Apparently, some are questioning whether New Orleans can, or ought to be, rebuilt.

I've been there twice. Both times made quite an impression on me. The loss to music alone would be staggering.

CHeck out this article:http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9190577/

It pretty much sums up what the situation is, but not the solutions. Other than one: Loyalty. There are people who love that city. And they didn't all live there.

I was offered an opportunity late last year to move there. They were going to open a new casino and I was offered a job dealing there. I turned it down because at the time I saw no reason to uproot my family for a job no better than I have now.As for clowning, I figured I could do that anywhere. Everybody needs clowns. Now, as the fate of New Orleans is possibly in the balance, I have discussed this with my wife. She is open to the possibility. She is in law enforcement and she figures that even six months or a year from now, there will be plenty of work for here there too.

Nothing is set in stone yet. It'll be six months before anybody can even consider living there again. But I might just be making a move down south.

Well come on down! We'd love to have you and you'd be just a few hours away from me. With all the friends and family I've got (well ... had and will again) in New Orleans, I'm there at least once a month.

LG, New Orleans would be a better place for having you there. My girlfriend and I have already decided that the second New Orleans is open for business again, we're taking a vacation there. I haven't spent enough time there since I moved away six years ago, and I plan to rectify that.

I've always felt that New Orleans was a close fit for my personality. I love music. Especially Jazz and Blues. I love good food. I love to cook it. ANd most of all, I love the idea of running around drunk and naked and all anyone does is laugh and throw beads at you. :)

I think NO could use some good ol fashioned Goofball to help them bounce back from this disaster. Go for it!

In any case, they will need that port to be working eventually. My guess is that they will raise the flooded out parts, which will take years and billions of dollars. They could start from scratch on higher ground, but I think if nothing else a sentimental attachment to the areas that survived, i.e. the French Quarter and Garden District, will mean they will rebuild there.

I would bet it's a lot smaller this time around though. Mobile's port will start picking up the slack and taking a lot of the population.
