I was looking at a plastic toy soldier and noticed it said "Made in China". This got me thinking. Toy soldiers are molded by machines(I assume lol) and therefore requires little labor. So why do they need to be made in China. We have the workers here in the US that are need to staff thousands of such factories. But yet they still go to China. One speculation of mine is the lower(or lack of{don't know about Chinese utilities}) electric bill.
you have the sculpting, the molding, putting the pieces together, the packaging as well as the packing for distribution.
however, you also have the cheaper land/rent for the factory and low insurance/benefits and cheap workers.

It's simply cheaper to manufacture it in China, obviously. Lower salaries, cheaper land etc. The company can make more of a profit that way.

That's basically it. The other advantage is the Export Processing / Special Economic Zones, inside which companies pay no tax and are not bound by any labour relations or health and safety legislation.
