I am a conservative republican. I am not one of those who always votes on the party line, it just happens that republicans generally share more values with me than the other parties do.

I'm a neoconservative, shading too social-liberal.

I agree with most of the Republican Party, most of the time.

I'm a registered Republican.

Once upon a time (pre-911), I was a registered Green.

True story.

Hard-core conservative, and the closest thing to that in my country is the wishy-washy tories...

so I tend to class myself as a republican... even though they're in another country.

I have to agree, i wish i could disagree, but the tories are wishy washy, i hope that not so in the future.

In a conservative, been registered for 2 years, allways will be.

I vote for different parties depending on the level of government, but they all have one things in common: They are socially liberal and devoted to preserving and further advancing civil and equal rights. Economically they differ (from liberal - and that's the classic liberal, not the perverted American notion of "liberal" that denotes left wing - to somewhat communist), and that's how I decide which level of government I wish them to be at.

What world do you live in? Your view of the political spectrum must be strangely warped if you see the Tories as a centrist party!

Come to think of it... Your view of the political spectrum must be strangely warped if you see New Labour as a left-wing party! Most people would put them as being right-of-centre.

i used to be in the tinoka ku ush Yopenya
but i'm planning on leaving soon, not shure what i'll join(most of the other parties aren't actually 'parties', for example, the yopenyen fascist party(it doens't actually call itself fascist, but i call it that cause there's no word for it in english and it's the closest word to what i've encountered to it, where on the other hand the democratic totalitarian party does almost directly translate) is actually an already running psuedo-government(since not all people actually follow their laws)), but i've come to think of totalitarian democracy as impossible(actually, a big reasone for thinking it improssible is from reading discussions on NS)
sorry for so many parenthesis.

I'm officially independant, for as little government interference as possible. But, at the polls, I tend to split 50% Libertarian* (positions with no power but "social influence," since nobody but me'll vote for the office anyway), then split democrat (real offices, since I'd rather them than repubs, & they stand a better chance than libs) & republican (Anything primarily financial) based on what the office does.

I used to be left-liberal, but I started paying attention a while ago. For instance... "Pricey Social program D has to exist because of Social Programs A, B, & C. A is moderately cheap and pointless; B does a lot of good once a decade or so, nothing but a point of pride between, and costs us a percentage of our GDP either way; & C does almost nothing but harm, makes pocket change which is almost all lost in administering and controlling it, but is popular despite obvious corruption and a general consensus that it only does harm."**

My younger self'd keep 'em all, because you need D if you have any, and they do some theoretical good. Now I'm cheap and I'd chose to revamp B a bit to theoretically but not actually cover C, use the difference there to misappropriate funds for D, and make it so corrupt that people expect it.

*Some of you might connect "Libertarian" with "as little government interference as possible." Their theory is nice, but in practice, they're "Everything the rest promise you, but legal pot & hookers, no taxes, and universal free healthcare by benevolence of the rich." Internal contradictions which seem to lead to an unfunded dictatorship which could do anything it wants, but chooses not to. That's why I want them to win pointless positions, so enough people know about the party to make a coup de etat by the people who actually believe in a government with minimal interference.

**Yes, these do all refer to something specific and relatively major. You might not have heard of A if you're not American, B+C aren't considered social programs, but there's a good chance everyone would know all four of them.

We're a small group affiliated with Workers Power. We're strongest in the UK with a membersip of maybe 2-300. However small we are, we're well known for being militant (at the 2001 G8 protests you can see a revo flag flapping about before carlo gets killed by the fuckers) and somewhat of a pest to the SWP :)

Hurray! There are actually socialists in Britain who aren't me or George Galloway! Luckily, I live in Scotland, where the Scottish Socialist party has a real, if small, place in government. Maybe not so much so in the national elections, but definitley in the Scottish elections. The system of representational election in the Scottish parliament ensures that parties like the SSP or Greens actually get a say. Unfortunately, this system also gives nutty right-wing guys a chance. But, luckily, there aren't that many radical nationalists in Scotland (good old Scotland is the home of Kier Hardie and the original Labour party, after all). Nationalism here is more a sort of patriotic thing, rather than a fascist thing. This means that the Scottish Nationalist party is pretty central and not a dangerous bunch of rascist nuts, like the BNP.
Your right that the Lib. Dems are the lesser of evils, but I don't know how much better they'd be than Labour. Less capitalistic, yes, but they'd probably be pretty ineffective at getting things done- they're always too 'nice' and inoffensive for their own good.
Sorry for the long post.

You murdering Nazi! This better be a joke! Thatcherism drove this country into the ground. If you call record unemployment, break down of peace talks, and the funding of extremist, right-wing death squads in Nicuragua 'glory days', then your probably a proud member of the Nationalist Socialist Party. Go off and slaute your swastika, you Nazi scumbag.
Obviously, being 14, you're too young to know what that monster did to this country, and others. Remember the Falklands?

Now first off, I really hate the American two party system. Now that that's out of the way I fall into ideologically and am registered as a Democrat, but I have voted both for Republicans and Greens before, though slightly more greens than republicans. And a lot more democrats. If the US would give any chance to third or fourth parties, I would probably move to the greens (even if I still have a couple sticking points with their nuclear and slave repirations policies that I disagree with strongly) or else get to work to start a real progressive party.

Basically, I'm some one that says, "Okay, the world's shitty, lets make it less shitty. Lets try this... if that doesn't work we'll try something else."

I support the Liberal Party of Australia. Which, curiously enough considering it's name, is Australia's equivilant of the British Conservatives and American Republicans. Although it's traditionally been to the left of both of them, it's now more right wing than the British Conservatives.

Not a member, but that's mainly because I'm lazy... but I volunteered for the last election campaign and I've done some work for a Liberal MP.

To describe my political beliefs, I'm basically a Neo-Con with very Free Market ideas. First describe myself as a Neo-Con pre-9/11, didn't just jump on the bandwagon.

Registered member of the Socialist Worker's Party - thought they dont run for elections since they are a revolutionary party :P
However, they do support RESPECT (who do run for elections) - but I think George Galloway is an arse.

Either way...I voted Liberal Democrat this election (as has been stated elsewhere, lesser of three evils).

Psh, whatever happened to the good old British Labour Party. At one point it used to actually give a damn about the working class.
