I think a well-deserved bump is neccesary.
Don't worry, it's not some partisan hackery.
It shows the errors and shortcomings of both sides.

great link, lol the author pokes fun at all ideas. I like his view on global warming :D
"Fairy - Homophobic. Replaced by Petite airborne humanoid which possesses magical powers. The term fairy should be avoided when discussing these mythical beings, regardless of how gay they may appear."
Lumberjack - Replaced by Murderer.

I thought the point of Newspeak was to make language as simple as possible, so that no thought could possibly be involved. Adding extra words to a phrase complicates matters.
Then again, it at least says that the partisan hacks are merely enforcing ignorance, not Apathy. Sadly, this is a bright point in life.

Civilian Casualties / Collateral damage - Other countries kill their own citizens... America only damages them.

Just don't say "Ship-shape and Bristol Fashion" round the british PC brigade.
Soon words like "Conservitive", "Socialist" and "Postal Voting" could be added to the Blair Hot-list. :p

Oh, I thought you meant "Newsweek"
you know,
like CNceNsorship,
or FAUX news.
anyway,
"pc words"
"pc" itself is a pc word taken on by the right-(that is the Democrat and Republican party)(that's right PARTY. singular)
politically correct.
what to say to get elected.
thus pc changes with time.
what are the sacreds of a community.
appealing to patriotism is always politically correct.
as is appealing to a local corporate sports team fan base.
and "families" or "the children" that is also Politically Correct.
Who's against "the children" or "families".
"bum" vs "homeless"
The author obviously has not been down to a local homeless shelter, have they?
Come on all you conservative christians out there...
you've got to agree with me, after all, that's where you spend all your
time, right? Helping the down trodden for the sake of helping the downtrodden, just as God & Jesus suggested. Not demanding they convert or caring if they do or not. It is the helping downtrodden that is the practice of Christianity afterall, is it not? Or did I misread?
Maybe it's committing war crimes such as bombing water treament plants,
as they did during that war for oil - the gulf war back in 1991.
Maybe that's the practice of Christianity?
I do not know, I don't belong to any religion and
there fore do not have to worry about "not judging"
as Christians are forbidden to do.

Oh, how clever and original. You should get a medal for your complete and utter understanding of Christianity and all who profess it as their religion.
Oh, and let us not forget how you managed to deduce that all conservatives are Christians. You sir, are brilliant. We have a genius in our midst.

The purpose of buzzwords is to sap your ability to think critically by divorcing words from ideas.
For example, if you wanted to say "we murdered Mr. Bill" but wanted to make that "news fit to print", you could say "Mr. Bill was liquidated", or even better, "Mr. Bill died today" or not even cover the story. A story I ran across months ago (in the New York Times) commented about how many thousands of Timorese "died" during the Indonesian crackdown. This eliminated the perpetrators -- the Indonesians -- from consideration. The proper idea would be "Many thousands of Timorese civilians were murdered by Indonesian military forces", but this is inexpressible in the American media. So those people simply died, which is very different from saying those people were killed -- see, if they were killed (which they were), you'd have to wonder who killed them. But by saying they died, it lets the idea just sort of float past without much consideration.
Misogynist : A man who hates women as much as women hate one another.

You are right, I should have said,
"all you Christians out there".
I should not forget that, besides many traditional Republicans
that are scared shitless of Bush,
and that the economic conservatives don't necessarily agree with
the particular Christians that support Bush. They're not cheering
for abolition of abortion, they're just happy to get more bowing
down to the corporate agenda.
And of course, of course, of course,
not all Christians believe the same as Bush's evangelical Christian base.
There's a lot of people out there who hold those views to be not
Christian - at all.

Also, not all people who support Bush are Christians. The most pro-Bush family I ever met is Hindu. They absolutely love the fact that we are bombing Muslims and are more homophobic than the average Texan. It was quite scary.

Yeah. Stereotyping from both of us.
Maybe there is a higher percentage of Muslims than Texans that are homophobic? I do not know. I've never seen any scientific studies
done on the subject.
There are also Hindus who believe where Bush is taking the American
empire is just worse than empire itself.

I guess what we can learn from this little conversation is that people, all kinds of people, are assholes.
