NCAA College Football Predictions

Greater Googlia

This will be very similar to FairyTinkArisen's thread here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=439912

Except instead of English soccer, it'll be NCAA College (American) football games.
Week one games won't count for this game, as they've all been played (Plus, it gives the Oklahoma Later fans a chance).

However, the scoring is going to be a little more complicated. Additionally, instead of me picking 10 games, all 1-A games will be elgible.

Here's how it will work. All predictions must be made by 11:59pm EST on the day before the game. Any edits to a post after that time will make your prediction void.

Here is how the scoring works.

For every game you opt out of predicting, you do not score points and you do not lose points. So if you know nothing about the Big East or the Pac-10, don't worry about predicting that game.

For every game you incorrectly pick, you will lose 1 point. Simple as that (yes, there will be people with negative scores).

For every game you correctly pick, here is how the number of points you earn is determined. The number of people who incorrectly pick that game will be divided by the number of people who correctly pick that game, and then rounded up to the nearest integer (always rounded up, even if it is 0.03 or something).

For instance, in last week's game in which TCU beat Oklahoma, if 98 people predicted Oklahoma would win, and 2 people predicted TCU would win, the 98 Oklahoma fans would all have a score of -1, while the two TCU fans would each have a score of 49. However, in closer games, like tonights Miami vs Florida State game, the predictions would be pretty close to half and half, so everyone would be either up or down one point, maybe up two, depending on where exactly the prediction precentages were at.

I will check the predictions when I can and post the number of points you stand to win or lose before the game is played, then at the end of the weekend when all of the games have been played, I will update the scoreboard.

Just want to remind you that you don't have to make a pick for every game. However, once we start getting farther into the season, I may limit to either just top 25 games, or just games with teams from BCS conferences. Or maybe just limit it to intraconference games. Either way, once the deadline for predictions comes, I will post in brackets between the school name and the record how many votes for that team so you guys will be able to tell how much you stand to gain if you picked right.

You know what's funny about the correction you just made for me...

When I was typing all those out, I accidentily left the state out and went on to type OSU's record, knowing I had forgot the "state," and thought to myself I needed to fix that...then I forgot to go back and fix it, so, thanks for correcting me.

Anyway, the biggest games of Week 2 will be Iowa at Iowa St, South Carolina at Georgia, Texas vs Ohio St, and Arizona St at LSU.

Potaria,
If you make additional picks for Week 2, please either edit your post with your Pitt pick, or make a new post in this thread with all of your picks in the post.

And as a general rule to everyone, I will only accept picks from one of your posts, and that will be the post with the most picks in it. If there is more than one post with the same amount of picks, I will use the most recent one.

Well, I don't know if you've been to a game before, but most people don't sit in their assigned seats. At least not in the student section. Do you know if they are going to be swiping student IDs this year?

Well, I don't know if you've been to a game before, but most people don't sit in their assigned seats. At least not in the student section. Do you know if they are going to be swiping student IDs this year?

Video of Tech vs. Maryland opening. (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/smacmeek/VT-UMD.wmv)The last time I was to the game was about 4 years ago when my older brother was there. This will be my first game since.

I think they will be swiping them.

Who the Fuck cares about AMERICAN Football? It's the most pointlessly violent, facist sport ever made. The UN should have banned it by now.

Um, right...if it's not already abundantly clear, we don't care about the UN around these parts. And is it more violent than rugby?

As in the REAL UN.

Rugby is violent, but it has a point. American Football has no point. They just gangrape eachother. It's facist. Just like America and BUSH!

I don't know but Michigan got screwed. Chad Henne was in the first time on a QB sneak and the refs said no. The very next play Michigan fumbled the ball into the endzone. It's a weird day. Last I heard Oklahoma was losing 9-7 to Tulsa. At least Texas and Ohio State is going to be a great game tonight.

Man, I watched that game. Pitt just got MANHANDELED in the trenches. It was like a bad prison scene. Not a very auspicious way for the defending big east champs to start their season,eh?

I hope OSU wins. Although I hate the big "10" I don't see anyone else beating Texas.

How 'bout Iowa down by 16 to State at Half? Go ISU.
